Tyson was faster and had far superior punch variety, but I don't think even he had a single punch that was as powerful as Wilder's right hand straight.

If you averaged out the power between the right and left sides Tyson would be by far the more powerful puncher.

But that Wilder right hand though...tough call

Teddy Atlas I think said Tyson was the best puncher he held mitts for. Im sure it was Atlas.
When they say that im not sure what best puncher means? Is it most powerful or speediest? But most couldn't get past first round with Tyson whilst with wilder you can.
I think best puncher means when he throws punch its more likely to land than anyone else who throws a punch. BUt power is also a factor when tyosn is concerned as you couldn't get past first round. So hes landing and with power. Roach said it was awfully powerful also.
So there is no way of saying Wilder hits harder.

personally I think a prime Iron mike would be too fast for Wilder and catch him in the opening rounds and make his bird legs fold like a deck chair

How does he know this? He is just guessing. Both men are great punchers. You can only go by results and how hard the punches look as far as speed and putting weight into the punches goes. Both men have very fast punches and get KOs. I think Tyson has a much larger variety of very hard punches than Wilder does. But for one single punch I think perfect Wilder straight right is harder than any single punch Tyaon can throw. I am just guessing too and have no way to prove it. Wilder does not always throw the straight right correctly and sometimes swings or loops it. But when he throws it like he did when he KOed Ortiz last fight I think it's the hardest punch I have ever seen. It's an explosive punch with great speed and body weight behind it and Wilder is top heavy and puts his huge shoulders into the punch. I don't think Tyson has any single punch as hard. Just my opinion. Wilder has KOed every man he ever fought except Fury and he came damn close to KOing Fury. Tyson did not KO everyone he fought even in his prime and failed to knock some guys down.

Roach said that Tyson and Klitschko were the hardest punchers he held mits for as well.

That said, Wilder hits harder than both based on single shots. No question.

I used to deny that but there's no disputing it now. He knocked down every man he's faced as a pro and no other heavyweight champ ever can claim that.
