  • Can John Tate really gave Holmes a tough fight and possibly a loss

Despite stopping Weaver, Holmes was breathing heavily in between the 11th and 12th round. I've read before that Larry was so worried upon watching Tate outboxed Weaver (until he got knockout in the 15th).

If Tate had won, can he really beat Holmes and put a loss in his record and Larry won't go up to 48-0. It can also be argued that Holmes soften up Weaver for Tate.

--- It's inarguable that fat Lar wouldn't go near a WBA champ during his run for good reason.

The poor dear has something like a 1-5 title record against standing champs. The only one he beat was norton who had been appointed the WBC title after his eliminator w/ Young. Wouldn't touch young either.

I hate to imagine how Tate would react to Larry's right cross.
Saw Tate get a right cross from Stevenson in the olmpics.
He walked away and sat on his pants. He said he heard the bell.

Funny but Larry's left-over, Mike Weaver knocked out Tate and became a We Be Asking champion.
WBA became a circus for crying out loud .
Tate, Weaver, Dokes, Coetzee, Page, Tubbs, Witherspoon, Smith and company.
When Page fought Tubbs, it was knowns as the Battle of Man ******* .

--- it's inarguable Weaver an untutored journeyman made good and that fat larry never went near a standing champ until Mike Spinks exposed him.

Ha! Reminds me of the fight where the boxer got hit so hard has asked the referee to go to the roof for a smoke.

Except Larry signed to fight Coetzee and then MAPS went out of business. Hell, the head went to prison, didn't he ?

Don King controlled the heavyweight division then. Hell, he controlled the whole boxing . He made fights to make nickels and dimes .

Mike Spinks exposed the crackers in Las Vegas who did not want Rocky's 49-0 broken.

--- you mean like when Snipes dropped with a laser right hand and he rose to spin around and stumble his face into the turnbuckle?

Little Reynaldo, not even a big slugger. That's an automatic stoppage in most places.

Yeah, in England if Snipes was Calzaghe.https://youtu.be/Tlu4R_ZobU0?t=178
Larry won the next two minutes after getting knocked down.
You must be thinking of Clay-Cooper.

--- Nah, it Wes We Be Crook beltholder Lar falling face first into the Turnbuckle.

He refused to face his young contender mandatory to help kick start the crook who founded the IBF who shortly thereafter was carted off to jail.

And it was DKing saving him from loses to Spoon and Williams so he could be sacrificed to Mike Spinks, not your conspiracy krackers in Vegas.

Give it up. Yer dog is so mange ridden that the fleas even had to jump ship, but the best thumb off the jab in boxing, so rejoice!
