Charlo only really needs his shot at the WBC belt, be it against Alvarez or someone else; no different than with Errol Spence Jr, he and his brother have been built up more than enough to carry Lions Only Promotions events in Houston (to go along with the general Brooklyn, Vegas, Los Angeles trifecta that have basically been built into boxing cities at this point).

He's the mandatory challenger, and the WBC has already made it publicly clear that, after Alvarez fights whomever he wants in December (turns out he picked wba medalist Rocky Fielding), he's next. Be patient, stay on top of the work, fight when you need to fight (Charlo getting the opportunity to launch the new PBC on FOX effort is a good luck), and hold firm to the rulings.

If Canelo wants to give up a belt again (this time with a challenger who hasn't rushed him or impeded a fight), he'll hope to have something to sell to his fans as to why.
Honestly, no one will care if he passes on Charlo for a better fighter unless Charlo and GGG square up as ordered and Charlo wins. Charlo is already getting a crack at the interim with GGG.

You have to remember this is the WBC we’re talking about. They’ll do whatever to keep a belt on Canelo in some way. The main thing is being the lineal champ, I dont doubt Canelo would drop the wbc again if it goes against what he wants.

And now that he’s with DAZN, I’m not sure how this is going to work. Charlo’s easiest way to Canelo will be through GGG and then his team will have to cave to let him fight Canelo on DAZN. If Charlo doesnt fight AND beat GGG (which it seems highly unlikely he could beat GGG) he’s going to have nothing to offer Canelo..no name or urgency and on a different network. Charlo is going to have to REAAALLY earn it. It’s not going to be easy for him to land it at this point. Canelo will get the benefit of the doubt because of his extensive pro history and dramatically (ridiculously) better resume. It’s not a duck and no one will see it as such. Now..will the network duck Charlo in a year or two’s time because of the new deal and they have in house plans? Thats another story.

The WBC is shiesty, but even they have a level that they won't pass.

They let Alvarez vacate the belt before, and to act like it won't happen again is a bit much.

That was against GGG though who had gone years as the mandatory iirc. Canelo will drop that ish in an instant if they try to order him to do something he doesnt want and that is not the position you want to be in as Charlo. The end game is Canelo and being recognized as THE champ at the division and not that belt in particular.

But hey, we’ll see. I wouldnt put it past the WBC to let GGG fight someone else for the interem title if Charlo chooses not to fight him for example and lead that back into a big money fight. Hell, he (Canelo) could drop it all together and fight for the WBO or build to that. In house fight afterall.

Charlo is the #1 challenger and interim champion; he's already owed the mandatory and if Golovkin continues to not want to bother with the fight (K2 has petitioned for the direct third fight and failed, Golovkin and Co are set to go to Japan with eyes on a Murata fight for the Spring, etc).

If Canelo drops the belt, he drops the belt; Charlo gets elevated to full WBC champion, and Charlo looks to impress in his performances against Sulecki, Willie Monroe Jr, the winner of this run of The Contender, the Derevyanchenko-Jacobs winner at some point, and whomever else emerges along the way.

Charlo sets up shop in Houston, looks great in his fights, and keeps his name in the mix, while Canelo moves behind his streaming paywall.

Charlo's (Terry Norris) twins are not a threat. (ZERO chin)

No one is saying that he's on top of the world, but simply making the point that he's in a position where he doesn't have to beg.

Yup hilarious canelo has already fought numerous boogymen in multiple weight classes GGG has her to fight 1! Mr 154 or 168 refused to ever move weight or take a risk camped out crushing tomato cans waiting for canelo then got his face broken. Now going to duck Charlo and go back to tomato cans begging for a 3rd canelo fight. Canelo has proven he will take risks go up or down weight to challenge himself when will GGG?

And that confuses me about today's fans. They praise those with great performances but take little risks and have thin resumes, and bash those who are in competitive fights but fight the best.
