Are too many fighters trying to emulate Floyds shoulder roll?

Too many guys do it without understanding the whole concept behind it. Broner does it decent but there are holes in it because he hasn't really put in the work to make it tight.

That is the whole problem with guys using it actually it requires a ton of work and most guys just pick it up because they see it working so well without realizing Floyd has spent a lifetime mastering it. A lot of it is understanding what the other guy is going to do and being a step ahead, if you just use the same variation of a trick over and over someone is going to figure it out.

The trick is after you roll a few, you move out of the way... I know Floyd and Toney got away with just standing there, but that was against bottom tier guys

If they're facing someone good, you never see them just stand there and roll... A roll one, or 2, then punch and move... If they can't punch, the move

Nobody understands it, but it really is the best defensive style to learn... Its 90% reflex, and it isn't hard to teach/learn

Broner is pretty at it but he uses Toney style of it more than Floyd. Like anything you need to start young with it and not pick it up after 20 plus fights like Berto. Karl Dargan uses it as close as Floyd does which is why he's usually a sparring partner for whoever fights Floyd.

I think Broner does it well (against inferior opposition) . But i think he's the reason why so many people have been using it recently because he's still being defensively responsible while still throwing, It's "working" for him but others haven't been too successful .

Some of you guys are spot on! Yes many guys try to use the philly shell but they don't understand why it works for Floyd. Some guys don't even roll the punches they just use the stance without understanding why it works so well.
Floyd rolls the punches, he bobs and weaves, he counters well, and he uses foot movement to make his style as effective as it is.

Broner does it ok but he doesn't over his feet or his head well enough and sooner or later it's going to catch up with him.

Is the only reason you regard Broner so highly because he idolizes Floyd?
