He's a MW champion yet he never fought at the MW limit, says he's not a MW yet and won a vacant MW title over a JMW. Facts right? Come on son. You're too bitter. It's like:

That's the truth. I would argue Saunders win over Lee would be better than any single win as well.

Who'd Cotto beat for the title???? Sergio Martinez who was the lineal champion...he lost to Cotto who lost to Canelo

we can enjoy the fights while also enjoying the truth....GGG isn't the middleweight champion...deal with it

so Floyd wasn't junior middleweight champion? he never weighed in at 154 even though he beat the number one junior middleweight in Canelo

Was Henry Armstrong never welterweight champion? he won it weighing in the 130s when he beat Barney Ross? He probably never weighed a full 147 having started at 126 and lower

you sound silly bro...just face the music

Sergio Martinez was shot and his cherry picking is the reason why this division is in such shambles in the first place.

Floyd is 3-0 at JMW and fought at the limit twice. Only the Canelo fight was at a catchweight. But he beat the 2 best JMWs so, yes he was the champion. But let's be real, he should have been stripped of that status long ago. And GTFOH comparing Canelo and Cotto to Henry Armstrong. An era when being THE world champion actually meant something.

If boxing worked the way it did back then....Martinez and Cotto would be stripped of the belt for not fighting the #1 contender. But in your convenient dreamland you condone champions not fighting the #1 contenders and penalize the contender.

all you posted was your opinion man....your opinion don't mean that much

catchweights didn't start this year, they have been a part of the sport for hundreds of years

you dumb azz can you comprehend what you read???? I wasn't comparing them to Armstrong but what they have in common is, they beat the man to become the man....that is a champion fool

There were alphabet boys back then, and in those days the best black fighters didn't even get title shots dumbazz.....national boxing association had their "world champions"......the NYSAC had their "world champions" also there were colored world champions and the IBU which was ran by the mob controlled champions and belts and who got title shots

Most people on this site always talk about how boxing was in the past but really don't know shyt about the history of the sport

whether you like it or not the history books will have Cotto and Canelo listed as middleweight champions because its a FACT

politics have been in boxing forever and didn't start in this generation

Henry Armstrong won the welterweight title in the 1930s when they had "colored" world titles.....the number one contenders were not getting title shots back then.....Charley Burley was the number one welterweight and middleweight contender and top ten the entire 1940s and never got a title shot......does that mean Sugar Ray Robinson should have been stripped of his welterweight title for not facing Burley......How about Tony Zale who held the title when it was froze during WW2 and he came back and fought Graziano whose best wins were over welterweights

Dude. You're fvking insane. You posted a titangraph about blacks and racism and the history of boxing, none of which has anything to do with the topic at hand. Fact:

              1. Armstrong was the only recognized world champion

              2. The term "lineal champion" was made because of the emergence of the new alphabet belts.

              3. The "lineal title" is artificial, not recognized by any sanctioning body, not enforced by any organization and has no rules regarding the ranking of contenders. It is imaginary, but you enjoy living in your own imaginary world so maybe that's why you live and die by it.

              4. The history books as of today will say that Canelo was the WBC champion and Golovkin was the WBA champion, but both will go down in history as world champions.

What else needs to be said? Got this dude writing books and fuming because I don't give a **** about his fake, imaginary titles that have no rules and aren't enforced by anybody.

              • This question is flawed, Canelo is the champ. The WBA title holder is GGG, yet this 15 consecutive wins is bs, he has defences of a title that is all and those are questionable.

GGG is superb boxer and a huge puncher at the weight and will walk through Canelo, make no bones about it. But he ain't the man until he has defeated the man.

If you count these then Jacobs must be the current WBA Champion right now, if not then Golovkin is the Champion. Either way Golovkin doesn't have 15 defences as WBA Champion.
