Dre aint 46, he's a few years off that. Who cares anyway? If there is plenty of teenagers who come out the woodwork and start dominating rap, then cool. Its all about good music for me, i dont care howold they are, but to be honest i dont see that happening. Ice t is in his fifties and if he drops a hot album i shall be bumping it. Infact wen im in my fifties id love to be like ice t. He's a cool dude.

I don't think age matters in rap.
Rap hasn't been around long enough to have "old" rappers, rappers who came up as young and continued.

I think the style of rap, the lyrical content, etc. determines if what the rapper is saying is credible

Ronald Isley's still singing his as off and he's my grandpa's age

And that's also why these old rappers will never drop a classic because their lifestyle now too different from their street days those decades ago.. they can't relate to it anymore.. lol well 50 year old mobsters who just sit around, give orders and eat lasagna aren't that much "better" but there are some similarities in the climb up.

Most Mobsters start at the bottom of the foodchain as foot soilders doing hits and other things. Once their higher up they just give the orders so they aren't concerned with the "petty" stuff anymore.

The thing is there is no "higher up" in the hood, if your not on the street then you probably aren't really doing anything. No matter how much you make you always stay a "foot soldier" as long as you're in that life style. I mean there were some famous exceptions to this but their not what gets portrayed in the music, and it's hard to rap about giving orders instead of "busting caps" yourself.

I listened to the new Mos Def album yesterday. Not a single "busting caps" reference, no need, Mos Def has content for days...and he'll have that when he's an old guy with a hip replacement too...

              its the same thing.

the actors are rich and safe, and they are acting as something they are not.

Its entertainment, only the movie plays on the wax....

I've told this story on this board again. I remember being in high school, reading a source magazine that helped me put this genre into perspective....there was an article where Too Short said he had been in a relationship for over a year.

This was "Shorty the Pimp"! They asked him if he really pimped and he was all "Don't you think if I was, they'd come and arrest me at my shows?"

In another issue, Del Tha Funkee ****sapien was asked about his anti-white women and mixed black women song "Light Skinned Girls" and he admitted that his girlfriend was white.

Ice Cube rapped about killing white people and produced Da Lench Mob's song "Buck Tha Devil"...then went on tour with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and went on the Leno show. Asked about it, he said "not all snakes are poisonous"

A lot of these young rappers aren't writing their own **** anyway, and most of them who are...are liars. So what's it matter if they're 45 or 55 or 15? It only really matters when it comes to live performances...and I'm a fan of a lot of rap, but I think most live rap sucks.... only when there is some tweaking and live instruments or a lot of guest spots does it work...otherwise it's just some out of breath guy sweating and yelling and bouncing
