People in NSB really overrate how much the weight affected Chad Dawson in his fight with Andre Ward just because John Scully (the only person with an even remotely recognizable name in the boxing world who will talk to them) comes on here touting it as the sole reason why Dawson **** the bed in the ring that night.

In reality, Dawson is just a very average fighter with mental issues who wouldn't be capable of beating a fighter like Andre Ward at any weight class. Ever.

Pacquiao drained De La Hoya down from 154 to 147 (he weighed in at 145 due to problems with rehydration.)

Pacquiao drained Cotto down to a 145 catchweight (his standard weight at the time was 147)

        ---

        Future weight-draining candidates

Carl Froch says he'll only meet Hopkins at a catchweight below his usual 175 - the weight is yet to be determined (as far as I know).

Mayweather Sr. has said that Mayweather Jr will only face Canelo at 147 (his usual weight is 154).

Are they all equally as bad, are they all equally justifiable, or is one fighter worse than the rest?
How can you compare things that have happened with things that haven't? It like asking which was better, xmas 2012 or halloween 2014. I know you want to **** on floyd for what his father has said but at least make a thread that isn't completely ******ed.

He's not a more fragile version of Allan Green, that's for sure. How can you look at his record and call him an average fighter?

plenty of people said dawson was drained before scully, and considering the stubbornness of people i doubt many changed their opinion after he said it

it's obvious dawson was weight affected, the guy might at time be mentally weak, but to get kd' as early as the 3rd and everything a featherduster like ward lands is out of character

i'd imagine glen johnson being more mentally imposing also, and he punches harder than ward

Because he is an average fighter.

I hate to burst your bubble, but great fighters don't lose to a one dimensional d*ckwad like Jean Pascal.

You'll look back on my post about Dawson being an average fighter with mental issues and nod your head in agreement a few years from now.

What unfair advantage did Manny have over Cotto who has a history of coming in at less than 147? Are you telling me that it was the one pound that made Cotto get his **** pushed in?

                Cotto came in at

                146 vs Quintana
                146.5 vs Judah
                146.25 vs Mosley
                146.50 vs Gomez
                146 vs Clottey

Ward knocks out Dawson while he didn't knockout anyone in the Super 6 - even Allan Green. Ward has 14 KOs in 26 fights, he hadn't KOd anyone since 2009.

You seriously believe the weight-draining didn't play a significant part in the Dawson TKO? You haven't thought this through.
