Regarding the lineal championship if its you have to beat the man of that division, how come in 98 when Floyd beat Chicanito for the lineal, Corrales in 01 was ranked the #1 of the division and Floyd #2?

            Actually yes and no.

The lineage has been broken when Wright moved up in weight to middleweight. So technically speaking theres no more lineage at this weight. Normally when a lineage is broken a new one must begin with the fighter who wins the vacant title. In this case it was Mayorga against Piccirillo, who got beat by DLH thereafter.

So it's a little bit subjective, people can say that Floyd was lineal at 154, other can say that he wasnt, and nobody would be right or wrong in a certain way...

Forget the belts and rankings (especially rankings) and divisional titles and even lineal titles...just look at WHO a fighter fought and WHEN. That is all you need to figure out who is the best.

Yeah, neither fighter did anything to move up, hence elevated by default.
Your statement about 1 & 2 fighting for the ring belt is valid, while russian's 2 & 5 argument was essentially true for Khan and Garcia before everyone dropped off the list.
