  • Mark Hunt Vs Bigfoot Silva Headling Oz Event

FC returns to Australia on Dec. 21, and heavyweight Mark Hunt will be in the main event of the Fight Night card.

Sources close to the situation confirmed to MMAFighting.com that PRIDE FC veteran Mark Hunt has verbally agreed to meet Brazilian heavyweight Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva in a five-round battle, however, the city or venue for the event has not been determined. Combate first reported the news.

At 39, Hunt returns to the Octagon after a third-round TKO loss to former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos at UFC 160 back in May. Prior to that loss, Hunt was riding a four-fight winning streak, including stoppages over Chris Tuchscherer, Cheick Kongo and Stefan Struve.

Silva, a former EliteXC and Cage Rage heavyweight champion, looks to return to the win column following his first-round loss to Cain Velasquez at UFC 160, when he had his chance to fight for the heavyweight championship. Silva, who has lost twice to Velasquez in the UFC, is 2-2 under the Zuffa banner, having his arms raised after knockout wins over Travis Browne and Alistair Overeem.

Poor Hunt. Old man awaits another brutal beating and part of it is to blame on his dumb fans who overrate him.

Dangers for Big foot = knockout, out pointed in the stand up due to lack of speed and manuverability,

Dangers for Hunt = Being GnP, Being subbed, and to a lesser extent being KOed since his chin while still tough as hell isnt what it used to be + big foot has heavy hands, being clinched up against the cage since he can be taken down from the clinch

Hunt needs to "box" not pressure fight. He needs to stick and move, not stand and counter or walk them down like a Tank, like he usally does, bigfoot is too big and powerful for that and this isnt 350lb mark hunt. He also needs to stick n move to avoid the takedown or clinch. He can win if he does that, and quite easily, its just will he do that!? Its not the usual thing he does. Hes more than capable from his K1 experience of dealing with skilled giants, but will he and his coaches do it?

          cont...

Big foot needs to keep him at his jabbing crossing range and to tie him up and/or take him down any chance he gets. He needs to Keep and assert that range advantage, and make hunt work to get inside then when he is inside try to clinch up or take down Hunt. Is he fast enough to do that? Will Hunt be using a stick n move gameplan?

Time will tell, it really can go either way and it dosnt favour either of them both have big weaknesses to exploit.

Hunt could clip him early like Cain did but otherwise he will get taken down and get Fedor'd.

Hunt by KO. Antonio is more overrated for beating more overrated Overeem and got lucky Browne hurt his leg. Atleast Hunt got four straight wins legitimately.

DC rocked Bigfoot with a jab. He has no hope against Hunt other than on the ground.

Aside from Bigfoot obviously taking Hunt down with ease and caving his skull in with his GnP or submitting him like 156 other people did before him, he can beat him standing as well.

He took a severe pounding from JDS that likely decreased his punch resistance even more. Bigfoot is not going to strike from the outside, he'll be looking to close the distance and dirty box, clinch work and just wear him out.
