Other than the extreme difference of level of competition, Ray Leonard was the undisputed champion in two weight divisions. One thing Mayweather has never been once.

I'll never be the one to discredit Floyd's accomplishments. He is no doubt a future hall of famer. But to ask how Ray is better than Floyd suggests that the writer of that thread has read about Ray's resume, but has never actually watched him fight.
At the end of the day, Floyd may be the more technical fighter, but not the better fighter. There is a huge difference between a hall of famer and a boxing legend. Everything about a prime Leonard was legendary. He is the most complete fighter I have ever seen. Not only would he beat Floyd in his prime, but he KO's most of Floyd's best opponents.Floyd would lose and get KO'd by Ray's toughest foes. Floyd should be compared to De La Hoya, Trinidad, Pernell Whitaker, and even Benetiz. All those guys were great fighters and elite. But when you talk about Leonard, you mention him with Ali, Louise, Armstrong, Duran, and Robinson. Those are the Legends.Last edited by jvsnypes; 11-21-2012, 04:41 AM.

This is the thing.. Nobody deny that Floyd is an ATG. Nobody. He's not being underappreciated. If anything he's being over appreciated.
Lennox Lewis was under appreciated when he was fighting, he retired and now people do appreciate him. BUT NOBODY will appreciate him to the point of calling him the GOAT.
In other words, maybe 10 years from now Floyd will be 'appreciated' more by some fans, but it will never ever get to the point where Floyd is considered 'the GOAT'

Leonard was an animal but gets a free pass on things people accuse Floyd
Refused to fight Hagler for years til it looked like Hagler was past it
Refused a rematch with Hearns for years
Refused to fight Pryor
As great as Duran was,he was still a lw
Had a lot more retirements than Floyd
Not saying Floyd is better
Just amazing how these things are overlooked when people get nostalgic

Pretty much all his other wins were against no names besides a few....I think it's an insult to floyd...do you think Leonard was and is overrated??
-Floyd will lose to Camacho by Points.
- Floyd Koed by Norris!
- Floyd lost twice to Duran! One by Ko, one by Decision!
-Floyd will duck SRL, Hearns & Hagler!! I'm sure about this!!!
