For the rematch sonny whupped hisself into rare form, but the fight canceled by Ali hernia, and then the venue cancelled. When the smoke cleared it surfaced in Lewiston, Maine for security purpose and sonny bailed. All documented mind you.

Net result Ali way overrated because of the circumstances.

I'll beat this like a drum, Lar/George same age, but when George was ranked in two decades of dominance, Lar weren't. That giant sucking sound of the 80s was Lar til Tyson cleared out the division.

actually, it was common knowledge that Liston was on the slide or had training and drinking problems. He was still young enough to put up a good fight, but Liston def wasn't in killer shape or dead in his prime. It could have actually been a pretty good fight prime for prime. Well, Ali was actually green. If you watch the Ali vs Liston fight, most of his downfall was he gassed out. Ali was maybe up by a hair but you could tell it was leaning in his favor as he was in better shape, but he didn't really land a whole lot of punishing blows for the majority of the fight.
