Hell, Jacobs skipped this one too. He paid the overlimit penalty instead.

So for sure it didn't matter.
There is no weight restriction in the IBF for unification fights. If you don't believe me look it up. They dropped it after the Golovkin Jacobs fight.

What I am saying not complaining is this is going in a bad direction. It's bad enough that in modern boxing with so many weight classes there are too many catchweight fights. Then you have multiple champions in each division. Now if this continues there are going to be catchweight fights by fighters in the same division. Danny's weight was checked because of the fine he would have to pay if he got too heavy. So yeah he went over but there still was an effect. One effect was his purse the other was potentially his performance in the ring. Everybody is crying that boxing is dying. Is it any wonder with all the crap going on. Canelo is a unified champion. If he can't at least challenge for a belt under the rules laid out by the IBF then don't fight for it. If he has to drain fighters in his own division then vacate and move down.

Canelo picked the toughest fight he could at 160 outside of Golovkin. And that should be the end of it.

None of this "he has a smart team, they obviously knew what they were doing if they picked Jacobs" baloney.
Am with you man, give full credit or STFU and people in here still think ( let me rephrase that, people are in denial about media not giving Canelo his fair shake) media will always find ways to poop on Canelo’s performance weather is a good performance or an ok performance.

Bull shît, Jacobs has fought many times before under this rules and circumstances, so yours nothing but petty excuses, how come you did not came out three months ago when he fought Dereviachenko? Why do circumstances HAVE to change vs Canelo? Is it because Chenko is Russian, and Canelo Mexican?

No it's because for unification fights there is no weight restrictions. The IBF got rid if it. The circumstances didn't change and whether Canelo is Mexican has nothing to do with it. Dereviachenko wasn't a unification fight.

Bullshit. Jacobs was universally regarded as one of the top 3 middleweights going into the fight, along with Golovkin and Canelo. So give Alvarez full credit for taking the fight and winning it.

Don't try to make less of it now that it's over, by insinuating that he carefully chose Jacobs because of some perceived flaw he must have had.

                Get off Canelo's dxck.

He gave the man credit for being a master boxer.

And yeah, fighters choose fights based on seeing some weakness in an opponent all the time.

Like when Mikey Garcia challenged Errol Spence, he said it was because he had seen some weakness in Spence that he should exploit.

Floyd Mayweather would do the same thing too.

Hell, Sugar Ray Leonard finally agreed to fight Hagler, once he saw a certain weakness in him after the Mugabe fight.

I swear, you Canelitas won't be happy until we're all on our knees slurping that mxtherfxcker.

Before the fight was signed people were talking like Canelo would not pick Jacobs because he was too high risk.

After the fight people like Bread start insinuating that Canelo's team picked Jacobs because they saw something.

Danny Jacobs was a top 3 middleweight, period. There's no need to qualify it. Canelo deserves full credit for taking that fight. That's the bottom line.

It's not like he chose Steve Rolls or something.
