They never had such a precipitous drop in oil prices in the past, because the US depended on them a lot more than they do now, and I taught you that, too

The US originally even designed Venezuela's oil laws and kept control over their resources in some form or another up until their oil wasn't as necessary anymore. Then, they bailed, and left Venezuela to ruin. It had nothing to do with socialism, and everything to do with capitalism. For all the socialist ideas Chavez had, his economy still depended on the capitalist oil deal, and that ultimately ruined everything, along with rampant corruption.

For, as in capitalist societies, even socialist leaders can be corrupt. The same or worse would've happened under capitalism. I know because I live on a capitalist island that the US abandoned, too, and we're dead already.
