If the person is trained in BJJ/Wrestling, then someone that had only trained in boxing probably wouldn't be able to stop it. The only chance would be to catch the person with a punch on the way in, or to bite the shit outta them when on the ground.

        step back out of range
        push down on the head
push opponent away when they get close via shoulders
        sprawl

all work, pretty straight forward. I was in wrestling and did these things in an mma club and it worked.

standing there dumbfounded without reacting at all will probably not work.

You had learnt to wrestle though, I'm taking the question to mean someone who didn't have such training - only boxing. Of course, if you have a background in BJJ or Wrestling as well as boxing, it's easy. That's almost like asking how a mixed martial artist would stop a takedown, not a boxer, if you know what I mean.

kick the knees, its not allowed in mma but theres proper ways to do it an that will stop them.

He's likely throwing everything out there to catch your legs. His chin and temple would be wide open but your timing had to be picture perfect and you'd have to throw a punch lower than you're used to.

It's a hard match for a boxer if he doesn't get that good shot when the wrestler is coming at you kamkazi style you're pretty screwed.

a friend of mine also showed me a way to make a wrestler go down if hes trying to take you down against a wall but its joint manipulation and not allowed in the ufc.

what about an over hand to the back of the head

i know its a bit dark but why not

maybe boxers should train for this on some level

obviously take down defence is sprawl and soccer kicks
