    • Don Turner: one of kov's asst trainers said after the fight "he's a puncher not a thinker
      why did ward win: don turner "he got hit"

      Kovalev imediately after didnt mention the low blows as the reason
      kinda how pac said immediately afterwards it was because Floyd wouldnt stand still (nothing about shoulder)

      • Rabbit Punches, Headlocks...Oh Kovalev didn't fight clean himself so for him manager to say "We Could've Fought Dirty" ??? WHAT? he did fight dirty as well!

        This Chapter is Closed! Moving On! Zero Interest in seeing it again because it is one of those match ups that will always end in Controversy! Similar to Bowe vs Golata just too much negativity around that match up which I think pushes Casuals AWAY from it all together!

          the "low blow" didn't stop him it was the right hand that had him stumbling around the ring like a newborn.

          • This argument is no fun anymore. So many posters are discrediting the entirety of the performance on the basis of what is essentially a technicality. If you listen to the fans in that circle only, you'd think Ward was socking him right in the nuts over and over every round.

            I respect the posters that can at least acknowledge that Kovalev was in serious distress throughout the round due to clean punches before the ending sequence which, yes, was too low. Weeks should have given Kovalev a rest, and NSAC should have admitted it. But low blows are not automatic DQs. In fact, if you wanna get technical even a point off is not required for a low blow. And when he stopped it, Weeks wasn't judging based on a hypothetical what would have happened after, so much as what was literally already happening up to that moment.

            Are you really gonna pretend not to see how badly hurt Kovalev was before those blows? Really gonna pretend that Kovalev was still meaningfully participating in the fight at the end there? You really didn't notice Kovalev hunched over from earlier clean punches, or him turning away from Ward completely? Kovalev was just doing fine in your mind and then the low blows were what did the damage? Shrug. Alright then.

                Ref should have warned kov our given him a chance he may stop it. It was so out of blue.
                Kovalev had no where to go he was stuck on the ropes and there is no standing 8 count so the ref did the right thing by stopping cause Kovalev wasn't defending himself

                • “If we’re gonna talk low blows, we’ll talk rabbit punches,”
                  ================

                  No you shouldn't. Rabbit punches did not result in illegitimate TKO, now did they?

                  Referee admitted a mistake he made because he hasn't seen low blows. So yeah, let's talk rabbit punches. Btw, is this an admission of low blows as a punishment from Ward for rabbit punches? Shows intent then rather than an accident. Big difference.

                  Say what you want about Kovalev, like him, hate him. Just on the basis of what was going on in the ring during the two fights Sergey did not deserve to be in the position he is in now. For starters, he shouldn't have lost the first fight to begin with. I hope he'll make some money out of this fight at least and at 34 he still can rule the division. I hope he will.

                    But, ya Ward was "dirty"

                    LMFAO. Sergio got KTFO and didn't cry one bit at the time of stoppage. Hell he was Happy lolo loo lololo
