People who have followed boxing closely know that Hamed was as motivated for the fight as Broner was for Maidana.

Both clowned it before the fight and didn't train properly. Hamed had hand issues anyway but his ego let him get blinded.

Sounds like an excuse for a fighter that got battered to me.

        Broner wants to rematch Maidana

Remind me what Hamed did after losing to Barrera

The fact of the matter is. Barrera the only good fighter hamed faced.

hamed was a hypejob. Nothing more.

After wins over Hamed and Morales, there is a huge drop off in Barrera's level of competition he defeated

People make him out to be some legendary fighter but outside of the Morales rivalry and beating Hamed, he didn't beat a lot of great fighters....he changed his style prolonged his career etc...but he is no where near willie Pep, Sandy Saddler, when it comes to legendary he is not

Losses to Pacquaio, Junior Jones, Morales, Marquez

Great fighter but I don't know about all time great

Hamed did not lose to Pacquaio, Junior Jones, Morales, Marquez because he never fought any of them. Like I said, Barrera was the only good fighter hamed fought.

The fighters hamed fought were either journeyman or aging fighters who hamed used to further his over-hyped career.

hamed was a great hypejob. Definitely not a great fighter.

That hypejob was enough of a threat for Marquez to turn down a career high purse.

Agreed. Think the scorecard was Barerra by 3 points on two scorecards and 4 points on one.

So just two rounds the other way Hamad would have got the decision.

                Was he beaten? Absolutely

                Destroyed? No

The haters probably havnt even seen the fight!

that statement shows you either didn't watch hamed in the 90's or don't know much about boxing.

Hamed cleaned out featherweight in the 90's beating good fighters like Tom Johnson, Vuyuni Bungu, Wilfredo Vazquez, Wayne McCullough etc

Naseem hamed is the last undisputed featherweight champion. He beat some very good fighters and he defeated 9 former titlists in 30+ fights.

If Hamed is a hypejob, then what is Barrera. Without the win over Hamed he wouldn't be where he is.
You must be English or delusional. Barrera was one of the pound for pound best at the time. Hamed was overhyped, and had a padded record. The fight itself was a joke. Barrera played it straight and knocked him around all night. Hamed is one of the most overrated fighters of all time. His legacy proves it. So you're saying he retired because he lost a good fight ? That dude was truly exposed. And I mean that--not in the way bozos overuse that term around here

Barrera is better than anyone FLoyd has ever fought, and Barrera has beaten better people than Floyd ever has, I had to mention Floyd, as the thread starter is a Floyd fan.
Pacs win over Barrera is better than anything Floyd has done as well.

Why did hamed retire after one more fight?
