  • [PLEASE HELP] Computer won't turn off, after lighting strike.

The power button won't work neither, I don't wanna say its a hardware problem, but it looks like it, any ideas what the specific problem might be?

    A few little details:

1)Fried the modem, had to get another.

2)Fried the Ethernet card on the desktop, had to get another.

    Any suggestions?

Are you holding the power button for at least 5 seconds?>

If the power button isn't working how do you turn it on?

I'm tempted, but I have no other PC

No it won't. The power button is working, but when I try to power it off, it auto-restarts

Of course, like I said before, it auto-restarts, doesn't turn off

Screw it just keep it running. When I had a desktop I left it on literally 24/7

That is always an option, but the blue lights from the Antec 900 case I have light up the room quite a bit along with the screen from the Tripp-Lite battery backup. When I sleep I need total darkness

dont turn it off, you waste more electricity turning it on and off than you do if you just let it sleep. I had my computer on 24/7 for years. only time it turns off if i install something that needs to be restarted to full work, or if I buy something to replace in it.
