Maybe. I really don't think so. Oscar hadn't been taking that bad a beating. Bernard was winning the rounds easy but he didn't really start pressuring until the second half of the fight. I don't think there was enough accumulation for a love tap to drop Oscar and leaving him crying on the mat. And he could be saying "That" in the corner but I just watched and I think he says "this my round." Could be wrong but it appears Manny Steward heard the same thing.

Hopkins sounded annoyed. He spoke over his trainer saying 'Good round right, it's my round'.

Steward paraphrases Hopkins, saying "Hopkins trying to figure out what the score is and he's asking "is it my round, my round" and his corner is just ignoring him. They should let him know that he may be ahead but it's very close." Seems like Steward was talking about his corner ignoring his request for feedback on how he did that round.

Yep. He seems to think Hopkins is referring to the prior round. I don't know, I think if he was, he wouldn't have phrased it that way. Its/this my round? Maybe "that" but not one of those two words. Anyway, who knows. You might be right but I always felt this fight smelled funny.

You're not alone, many people feel that way. It was a good fight. I think DLH's jab genuinely gave Hopkins problems. But in the end, Hopkins was tagging DLH with hard rights that was marking up DLH. It's good this discussion came up, I literally haven't seen this fight in over a decade. It was actually a good 2 rounds there from what I saw. The quality is so bad though, I can't see it from round 1.

            Jas, stop trying so hard.
What would Oscar gain by throwing the fight?

Yeah, I don't know -- I guess that's why I consider it a conspiracy theory. But who knows, maybe that was part of their deal. A few weeks after Hopkins got this payday, he and Oscar announced that they were joining forces as GBP east and west. At the time, the duo was a very unlikely pairing. Hops was very anti-promoter/conglomerate. Maybe he was bought. I really don't know, but everything about the fight, particularly the way it ended was fishy to me.

Dude, he was saying "It's my round, it's my round" because he felt like he was going to dominate the next round (which he did). And his corner did yell out "body shot" and Bernerd threw it, so what? If anything, that's a testament to Bernard's awareness in the ring, kind of like when Floyd chatted to Lampley about football during one of his fights.

Just watched it, it sounds like he is saying this my round to me...

Well your reason for him saying that is your opinion. We don't know why he was saying that about the ninth round. But I do know that the love tap he hit Oscar with shouldn't have had him rolling around the mat with a pained expression, looking as fake as an escort. And then they became partners a couple weeks later. Look it's a long shot. But it's something I noticed and it's definitely something that stuck out to me as set-up.

                      Yeah -- that's what I thought too.
