We've already been killing them - including civilians - at a ratio of many hundreds to every Western civilian death. It ain't really working, if anything it's kind of escalated the problem. Every time you kill someone you're potentially turning friends, family members and surviving kids into the next generation of extremists. And if the boot was on the other foot I expect I'd be looking for vengence too. So you're left with the problem - just how many millions are you prepared to kill in order to ensure your safety? All of 'em? 1.8 Billion? Think about what that would entail for a second.

Maybe it's time to start looking for alternative solutions, man. But yeah, better police work and intelligence, vetting of all immigrants and trying to establish or support stable regimes (even if we don't like the fuckers) in the chaotic wasteland of the Mid East left by 25 years of half assed interventions and meddling. That'd be a good place to start.

Part of the problem is that the terrorists and extremists can sense our weakness as a nation and as a kindler, gentler society. They smell blood in the water and now they are picking us off piece by piece hoping to break our resolve. That's what terrorism is, breaking down, intimidating and changing the way we live our lives. Look at the compromises we have already made because of terrorism. See all the shyt you need to go through to get on a plane today? See what happens when someone starts getting loud or unruly on a plane? Chaos.

Terrorists are like your neighborhood bully. The only way to stop him was either by someone in a position of authority holding him accountable and punishing him (teacher, police, parent) or someone kicking his ass and he stops the bullying. Terrorists are cowards and look for easy targets just like bullies.

With all of our security measures in place we are still very vulnerable. Any cold weather city in the U.S. is vulnerable. Wear a bulky coat in winter and a team of terrorists can hide a vest bomb underneath, get on subway and buses and kill hundreds or thousands. They can just leave a backpack on the bus or train, movie theaters don't check bags--easy targets. Look how vulnerable schools are, most don't have metal detectors and all students have backpacks. Easy targets. Imagine how easy they can bring this country to it's knees if they start targeting school buses full of children, graduation ceremonies, or any place there are lots of families congregating.

What will it take for the liberals to realize that this is a serious problem that isn't going to be resolved without infringing on what is considered civil rights? Profiling is taboo, yet a very effective method of dealing with terrorists. Israel does it and they are right in the thick of enemy territory and very effective at eliminating terrorism.

You don't stop terrorism. Terrorism will never stop. It's always been here and always will be. You can't have good without evil. Can't have rich without poor.

There is always going to be a radical group of people who want to do harm. They'll find a way to do it. The only thing you can do is minimize it and learn from the attacks.
