Nah, people will just interpret some kind of change in the world that happened as proof of the beginning of a new age or something.

Now some people are saying it will end this year. If you count year zero in the mayan calendar as the ancients did, they now "calculate" 2011 as the real date.

No where does it say in the Mayan tablets that the world is supposed to end in 2012. That is just something TV and Hollywood made up and ran with in order to fool people. 2012 is supposed to mean the end of an age. What follows after it is the beginning of a new one.

actually based on the Mayan Calender ending in 2012 thats whats been interpreted as the end of the world. But now some are saying it's going to be another 60 days or so based on tragic world events having to take place.....Who knows I dont really believe in it all either way just looking to see what others feel about the situation.

As someone has already said, it's the end of some period of time (13000 years I think) and there are 13 of the 13000 year periods, called Bak'uns or something. We're on the last one and thats about to end but, the cycle just moves back to the start again. An era of peace is actually predicted.

that's just the date their calender went up to, maybe they got tired of making these calenders, or made them with a so many years span , had they still been living there, maybe they would of made a new calender every thousand years
