  • [REAL TALK] Is Africa The Biggest Threat to the World, and What should be Done about it?

We are sleep walking into a huge problem, that will cost billions of live and could well mean the end of the world.

    That problem is Africa.

It's population is exploding and the strain it will put on the worlds resources will be too much.

40 years ago, Africa's population was 400 million, today is is 1.2 billion, by 2050 it will be 2.5 billion and responsible for over 60% of the world's population growth. By 2100 it could be 5 billion, that is despite the high mortality rate and mass migration to Europe and other parts of the world.

Their pollution, CO2 output will pollute the oceans and air, increase global warming.

Europe, North America and other first world countries populations have leveled off and are in decline in some places, even countries in South America, India and China's population is leveling off. As countries get educated birth rates do tend to drop off but so far it is not happening in Africa.

The world cannot cope, the migration crisis in Europe will come to a head, War, Famine, disease, as well as the effects from global warming and pollution of the oceans.

But for some reason, nobody wants to talk about this. The births rate stats and the populations predictions are all there.

Can anybody really see this ended well?

To date no African nation, has shown that it can manage its population in an adequate, sensible and sustainable manner like China. There is no need for a human dividend. Mechanisation in the agricultural sector, automation along with industrialisation and artificial intelligence have made it obsolete. If Africa were to sell this population dividend as an advantage, what little industry is developed will be undermined by cheap imports were robots work round the clock and require less capital to keep working.

If Nigeria overtakes the US in terms of population that would be a huge disaster for the country. It definitely will not be able to cope in any meaningful way, Nigeria would be heading the way of Haiti but with a whole load of desert added to the scenario.

The majority of African nations ought to be ashamed of themselves.
It is beyond irresponsible to be multiplying the way they are. Here in Europe conscientious questions are constantly being posed on the subject of population growth.

Apart from the moral discussion that this invokes (why have children? The planet is already painfully overpopulated), the responsibility and cost of giving a child a good life is something that most European nations take very seriously.
So why is it that the typical family size in third world nations continues to rise, whereas the population in the first world contracts?

Children are being born into poverty, starving from birth, in Africa and yet the continent remains passive to the problem.

Its not up to Europe or America to correct African irresponsibility but since they are incapable of resolving their own self-created problems, I would suggest we send less money to dubious organisations like Concern and focus more on building schools down there in an effort to helping them think for themselves and think about what they are doing to their own future generations

The birth rate shows the problem clearly.

Nigeria population will probably overtake the America's by itself in under 50 years.

The average woman in Niger is having 7/8 children. And that is the average.

A lot of them go into double figures. And then they will say we don't have the resources to feed our children.

It is unsustainable, and will end in disaster.

This is a pamphlet Japan gives out to their citizens before they go travel in Africa.

I think I can make it to the century club.

                  People are living longer.

Japan's population is shrinking the fastest. Which can be an issue, but only nationally for Japan.
