Why didn't Bowe want to take revenge against Lewis for his loss in 1988?

A combination of Bowe's cowardice and Rock Newman's cowardice.

Bowe didn't fight Lewis because he didn't believe he could win the fight. Simple.

Team Bowe saw how Lewis k.o'd Ruddock (a fight they also declined )and saw a beatable Holyfield they had by about 35 pounds or so and knew Bowe would have the upperhand almost always in any case being the bigger man,so they milked 3 years of Holyfield fights but when he then stepped up a true big HW in Golota you saw the limitations of Bowe .

Was he past his best? Well it would have nothing to do not fighting Lewis from 1992 to 1995 would it?

Then politics took over. Bad move by Rock Newman. Bowe when he was serious could do it all in the ring and he had a great chin. He would have KO'd the Lewis china chin. The wars with Holyfield did him in as well as the weight issues. Lewis would have beaten Bowe around the time Bowe fought Golata. Bowe was a shell of himself then.
Instead of the Bowe Holyfield rematch it should have been Bowe Lewis. Then the undeafeated Bowe should have rematched Holyfield.
Talk sense....lewis handled holyfield easy where is bowe went life or death with him in 3 fights....lewis blitzed golota and golota gave bowe brain damage....get a grip chumley

tyson's duck of lewis was just as blatant. in both instances, bowe & tyson threw away the WBC belt, the most prestigious belt, to avoid lennox.

but history proved in the end that lennox was the best heavyweight of his generation.

Ah but here's some reality you conveniently avoid. Holyfield was past his prime and still could have got the decision against Lewis in the rematch. Prime Holyfield was knocked down a few times by Bowe and was knocked out in the 3rd battle.
Golota would have been stopped by Lewis at anytime no doubt. Bowe was already washed up mentally and physically when he fought Golota. Lewis would have beat that version of Bowe.
Lewis was a smarter person and had a better career than Bowe, but would not have beat Bowe when Bowe was champion. Bowe had a better chin, could fight on the inside, and was tougher, he could do it all as he proved 3 times against Holyfield. Because Lewis was slow and had no chin he would have been hurt the first time Bowe would have landed a big punch.
You've conveniently forgotten about Rahman and Oliver McCall.

I wished Lewis fought Tyson in 1988, they were the same age. I wished Lewis felt the George Foreman jab. We were robbed of some great fights in the 90's.
I like Lennox, he was a great fighter and a class act. Bowe was not a class act.

Bowe avoided lewis...bowe lost to lewis ..the 3rd fight holyfield had bowe down and out but never finished him.....lewis had by far the better record out of bowe, holyfield and tyson when there records were finished...wishful thinking by your part will never get over the fact that lewis had bowes number and thats why he threw his belt...lewis is the best since muhammad ali and his record proves it

When history debates the best heavyweight since ali....lewis will come out in top and his record proves it
