If Thomas Hearns would have had a good chin, he would be the obvious answer. He sure had everything else. Good boxing skills, crushing power in both hands, a great jab, tight defense (especially for an offensive fighter), always in shape and willing to fight anyone.

Hagler came to my mind initially, Ive actually heard people refer to him as being a plodder & slugger- which is ridiculous to me especially if you watch prime Hagler. I just can't see a single thing he does poorly, but I am also a big fan of his.

SRL is a good choice too, in some ways I feel as if his better attributes (speed and reflexes) outshine other aspects (power) and make him seem less complete by relative comparison. He actually did have pop in his punches.

I also though Charles, and saw that he was mentioned as not having enough power. I agree with what we mostly saw of him lacked punch, and maybe I'm buying into a myth here, but I feel as if he may have let up some after the Baroudi fight. He did floor some top notch opponents in the years before that tragedy; sadly I think there is only one film of Ezzard pre Baroudi fight.

Jofre I think deserves to be looked at as well. Probably Duran, and maybe Benny Leonard too- I dont know if he had enough pop though

Hagler, not unlike Marquez, Johnson, Liston, could be out-boxed. Often he was out-boxing very crude fighters.

He's on the cusp. While he's more complete than most, there's too many who are better for him to be ranked among the best.

Leonard finished Hearns. His speed and timing, not his power let him down against Duran. His power saved him from complete annihilation.

Ray Leonard, not Locche, Whitaker, Mayweather, comes closest to Pep. He wasn't as good on the inside as fighters like Duran, Leonard and Griffith, of course. But when he needed offense his power and out-put never let him down.

He wasn't the best inside, and he wasn't the most mobile. Wlad is the better export of the Steward system.

The consequences of the Baroudi fight are clearly exaggerated. His record shows he sent right back to his ass kicking ways. The only person yo question his power was Old Left Hook, A.K.A. Mr. Humphreys from ARE YOU BEING SERVED? That dude's a joke. He started this thread, so we would all drool over Marciano. No lie.

As i've said many times, Benny Leonard was a greater Knockout Artist than Joe Louis. Look at the Tendler and McLarnin fights - is that a Willie Pep prototype?

Leonard was very complete. His era was more primitive, so he's viewed as a defensive maestro.

A fistful of his opponents provide more legacy than all of Mayweather's combined.
Check out his fight in Montreal against Duran.
