  • Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: Loma, Crawford Not Daring To Be Great Like Canelo Is!

LAS VEGAS Canelo Alvarez and Oscar De La Hoya don't have the close relationship they once had. That didn't prevent Alvarez's promoter from continuing to tout his fighter's greatness Saturday night. After watching Alvarez knock out WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev in the 11th round at MGM Grand Garden Arena, "The Golden Boy" declared Alvarez the best boxer, pound-for-pound, in the sport. De La Hoya contended during a post-fight press conference at MGM Grand that Alvarez (53-1-2, 36 KOs) has surpassed anything Vasiliy Lomachenko and Terence Crawford have accomplished.

Canelo's resume blows away Crawford's and Lomachenko's. That's for sure.

Nobody is taking the kind of risks Canelo is taking, that's for sure

well, Mikey Garcia did lately, but he suffered a rude awakening

Lol. Crawford is begging to fight a prime guy in Spence while Canelo is picking the low hanging fruit at 168 and 175 for fake belts. Loma about to be undisputed in a division also, when has Canelo done that?

        Stop with the B.S. talk

Lomachenko won't be undisputed. He chose to drop the WBC belt.

Crawford at least did unify all the belts when he was at 140.

It's getting ridiculous the media that hates canelo bending themselves into a pretzel to not give Canelo that #1 P4P spot. Nobody fighting right now doing what Canelo is doing. His resume, the risks he takes, the fighters he is beating. He should of already been everyone's top spot before this fight but if you still refusing you just a hater and have an agenda against canelo.

Crawford wants to fight the best of the rest, but it seems they are hesitant to fight him, so that was an inaccurate assessment from Oscar. I'm sure Loma would fight anyone in his division or one division above his. Canelo closed the show but Kovalev isn't the krusher anymore. It would have been so much more impressive if he fought and beat Beterbiev or Bivol.

There are several writers on ESPN's staff like Atlas that ridiculously have Spence ranked above Canelo . The problem with these lists is they're often based on an "eye test" (which can amount to little more than smoke and mirrors) rather than accomplishments.

"Is anyone else unifying divisions" asks DLH. I look forward to see those fights against Charlo, Beterbiev, Andrade and Bivol.

This were Oscar is 100% correct. I don't think it's really Crawford's fault though, I think both Crawford and Loma are being avoided.
