  • Is Tyson Fury in his prime yet?

Just doing some comparrisons, as the big superheavies seem to hit prime later.

    Fury is currently 24

Lennox Lewis at age 24, Lewis had just turned Pro. I'd argue Lewis hit his prime around 1997, around the time of the Golota fight, at age 32.

Wladamir Klitschko at age 24, Wlad had his first impressive win against Chris Byrd, the worst was yet to come though, with two stoppage losses in three years time, at age 27. I'd say Wlad hit prime in 2007, around the time of the Brewster rematch, at the age of 30

Vitali Klitschko at age 24, Vitali had just turned Pro, I'd argue Vitali hit his prime around 2003, when he fought Lewis and Kirk Johnson, at the age of 31. possibly a little later.

As you can see, all those guys were at least 6-7 years away from their primes, with many ups and downs in front of them at the age of 24. Do you think Fury is in his prime yet?

    absolutely not, no.

in general heavyweight terms, and especially taking his style into account, he's still a baby, still very much in development. he has much potential still to tap into. he doesn't need to rush at all.

        I think he's got a long while.

The other threewere years away and were all decorated amateurs .

        He's still a kid imo

You can't compare Fury to those 3, they were a hell of lot more athletic than Fury will ever be at 24 and even they slowed down a lot before they reached the top, if Fury gets any slower he'll stop moving.

you are a massive price fan.

I think you are a good poster but no offence I can't take your opinions on Fury seriously.

The man is certainly not "slow", in the last year since he's got in better shape he's remarkably swift and agile for a man his size. He also does 12 rounds with high output easily.

he's not an unathletic slob like people try to make out.

Fury has excellent athletic talent for a man of his size. this reveals itself more and more as his physical conditioning improves.

he is much more naturally athletic than mr. Price, that's for sure, even while Price may be the better conditioned man at this point in time.

Price is more conditioned and "traditionally skilled"

Fury is the more natural athlete and more "unorthodox skills"

The untrained eye tends to prefer the former, while the latter may in fact be superior.

Go watch videos of those 3 in their mid twenties, Fury isn't anywhere near their level athletically.

How are we judging "athleticism" though?

Wlad had **** stamina and used to gas in his 20's, he might have had a nice 6 pac...

Fury does a lot of athletic things in there, moves well, has decent foot and handspeed, throws volume from angles, great punch variety, fights inside and out, switch hits, does 12 rounds at pace easily.

The dudes a great athlete frankly, he's not as aesthetic as the others but that means diddly. There is more to being "athletic" in the ring than having abs and throwing a good jab and tight 1-2's behind a traditional european stance.

And even so, he's been in progressively better shape in each of his last three fights and uncle Pete has kept upping the training since then.

People need to stop judging with their hearts, sleep on this guy at your peril imo
