Nope, not everyone, just the guys who felt the need to protect themselves and others. There were also men who carried guns to fist fights.

Now that I read into it more, it turns out they actually had really low rates of gun violence and also STRICT GUN CONTROL LAWS:

Laws regulating ownership and carry of firearms, apart from the U.S. Constitution’s Second Amendment, were passed at a local level rather than by Congress. “Gun control laws were adopted pretty quickly in these places,” says Winkler. “Most were adopted by municipal governments exercising self-control and self-determination.” Carrying any kind of weapon, guns or knives, was not allowed other than outside town borders and inside the home. When visitors left their weapons with a law officer upon entering town, they’d receive a token, like a coat check, which they’d exchange for their guns when leaving town.

Let's see, what happened there? Oh yeah, tons of gun violence. Great idea, idiots.

When that happens it will come down to the "quicker draw".

Or imagine a coyote coming to attack you?

Yelling 'no guns would surely work.

It’s highly unusual for a coyote to be aggressive towards a human. They tend to be scavengers and predators to small game. They’re not as big as a lot of people think and have only been responsible for the deaths of 2 people ever on record, with one victim being a 3 year old girl. Not to mention being nocturnal.
