As interesting as a fight between Garcia and Brook seems, it is not being negotiated with a 5million dollar price behind it, and Garcia is certainly not initiating any negotiations.
Thaboxingvoice’s own Nestor Gibbs spoke briefly with Danny’s trainer/father/off-the-cuff manager, Angel Garcia, who dismissed any truths in yesterday’s reports, referring to the story as a baseless “rumor.”
“That’s just people talking,” Angel said in the brief phone interview with TBV’s Gibbs.
The phone interview was quick as Angel was in the process of actually getting a new phone.
However, the call had to be long enough for Gibbs to explain to Angel who, in actuality, Kell Brook was.
“Who is that,” Angel asked before Gibbs offered up Brook’s most notable identifier—the man responsible for taking Shawn Porter’s undefeated streak when he defeated him by majority decision back in August 2014 to claim the IBF title that he holds to date.
Angel eventually came around and remembered Brook, but it was clear that Angel was being completely honest, either that or he is incredibly in the dark.
Angel went on to agree with the notion that champions do not call out other champions. For Danny, a fight with Brook must be manifested in the same kind of way his fight with Lucas Matthysse came together.
For Brook, he’ll have to start pissin’ very soon because he’s been “on the pot” since defeating Porter; “the pot”—as in exactly where Brook’s last few opponents belong.
