  • Boxing should have travelling rules like Basketball

Like, you can't take 10 steps without throwing a punch, or you get a point deducted.

I mean this isn't track and field, if you're not there to fight, why are you there in the first place? Just go home and get on your treadmill if you don't want to fight.

Seems difficult to enforce. Guys would take a few steps back and throw a lazy jab to reset their step count with no intention of landing it.

It's ultimately up to the fans to punish a fighter for not fighting, by not giving him any money, but that doesn't work anymore.

The manufactured hype/TV buildup era made it so that the most boring fighters on the planet had an unlimited income ceiling.

Some of them even think they're "smart" fans who love watching the "sweet science" and envision themselves in those shoes some day. That'd be called getting suckered out of $100.

Throwing a lazy jab is better than getting on your bicycle. It's something.

And if there was travelling enforcement, it conditions the fighter's brain into always punching with his steps, instead of being in full running mode.

If he's in full running mode and forgets to punch, oops, point deduction.

If boxing had that rule then Broner would have lost an even wider decision to Pacquiao... 118 - 0 for Pac )

So how many points would Keith Thurman have lost for round 7 of his last fight?

TS had Broner ahead after 5 against Pacquiao. He doesn't know **** about boxing. Best just let him be in his own delusional world.

I'm pretty sure the ref can deduct points for too much running.

He can do it for clinching, and can even disqualify for excessive clinching.

                    nope

In bare knuckle they had the scratch. It was a line in the center of the ring. The contestant had to toe the scratch once every 30 seconds otherwise they were considered knocked out. We got rid of this sort of stuff specifically to make boxing more defense friendly.
