Number of Punches Determines a Winner?

Originally posted by Tony Trick-Pony View PostIt is now. And it would be then. People can claim close fight, robbery, yada yada but at the end of the day, it comes down to three people's opinions and the winner wins and the loser loses and that's the way it is. At least with punch numbers, there is something concrete there unlike now where there's nothing.

Whoever lands most punches in a round should win round, unless you are visibly hurt and in the trouble.
So let's say GGG landed more punches than nelo in round 1. GGG should win that round . But if nelo visibly hurt GGG in that round which he didn't do in 12 rounds btw then at the discretion of judge they could award round to nelo on basis he hurt GGG or had him in trouble. But nelo never hurt GGG or had him in any trouble to dissuade GGG from throwing and landing moreLast edited by hugh grant; 10-15-2018, 06:55 PM.

Well, if you haven't noticed, most of their wins come by KO anyway. And they tend to use their power to hurt their opponents and even if they don't knock them out, the opponents tend to throw fewer punches when hurt. So the outcome would be the same. Why are people so afraid of this system?

Most punches landed= Winner.
Simple and easy.
This is a sport-not rocket science. Most spectators are never going to try and break down a decision. Only us boxing dorks do that.

the decision shouldn't be announced on fight night. all 3 judges convene for a slow motion screening of the fight. winner is announced Sunday like breaking news. counting punches in a live fight is almost always incorrect.
Judges are allowed to score 10-10 rounds but NEVER do it. when a round is too close to call they basically end up saying "fxck it I'll give it to this guy..meh". Even rounds should occur more often.Last edited by Illmatic94; 10-15-2018, 07:06 PM.

I think who wins each round should be revealed after every round.

So a guy like Khan just needs to jab at range all night long en route to ATG status. Who cares that he took 50 body shots? He landed over 200 soft touch jabs so he should automatically win.
You seriously don't see a problem with this?

And KO artists would still do what they do-score KOs. As far the BJS comment, doesn't he continue to win in the same way under the current system? BJS hasn't faced a fighter yet who will close the gap and give him a fight yet. And yes, I think he deserves to win when he outlands his opponent. Makes perfect sense to me.
Well, if Khan eats fifty hard body shots, it's not likely that he's gonna land 200 anything. That will drop his punch output and honestly, landing 200 even soft jabs requires a hell of a lot of skill on the upper level. You know this, man.
