It is "avocado pear", but we just shortened it and call it "pear" because of its shape. To be fair, we rarely call things by its name, but by how we use it or see it.

You are fat, we call you fatty, fatta, etc. If you are dark, we call you blacks or blacka. If you are Asian, we call you Ms chin or Mr chin. It is just the culture to name things how we see it. If you are ugly in Jamaica, you will get a name like "ugly man".
