These but trade deals take years to complete, sometimes even spanning different administrations. You can't just bully your way into a new trade deal. Especially if you want a deal that benefits both sides. You're talking trillions of dollars and effects that will last decades.

The US will survive without China. Sure it’ll be a hit, but China on the other hand will be in deep shit if trade between the two countries collapses.

Trump might add tariffs on another $300 billion. How will China respond? With tariffs on another $20-30 billion?

The Chinese government needs to keep its factories rolling and its people fed. It’s not the authoritarian China of the past, reminiscent of North Korea. Its people have tasted capitalism, money, and freedom of purchase. They will show their dislike to their government.
