I am merely saying, you can't mix up failures of poverty and cultural failings on the white man and claim systematic racism, it is absurd, offensive and ridiculous.

I mean, to directly counter a couple of your points is...
      1. Showing 95% of black Americans voted for Obama the first time around doesn't really show anything. It just shows that black people were desperate for a black president. White people make up the majority of America and a non-white (because make no mistake, Obama is mixed race, not black) president got elected, that is just the simple fact of it.
      2. Showing the number of white on white crime... again, this doesn't conclude anything about racism. It doesn't tackle why 13% of a population are responsible (and found guilty) for 50% of the murders in America... that is staggering.

Again, none of what you have said about why black people are less likely to achieve, says anything about racism, which is why I agree with what you are saying, but not with your conclusions.

      You are saying:
      Reason = Poverty
Conclusion = Racism of the system

If you read what you wrote (beyond the Obama bit) there is no mention, not one solitary mention or link to racism... it is all just poverty and culture.

America has a horrible poverty problem.... and it used to be racist institutionally in the past... but since the civil rights movement? No, sorry... that is a fallacy.

It is the same for any other country... I was not born in London, I was born out in the countryside... there are less opportunities in terms of making money, than there are if I was born in London. I am white, but a black man who lives in London, is likely to make more money than a white man from outside of London. This is just the way things are, it has nothing to do with racism, it is to do with location.

That stat I gave about single black motherhood rate being at 70%... the shocking thing about that stat is that it has risen to that number from 20% since the civil rights movement... so you can see a regression in a group of people, since the country actually became less racist.

So again, my point of my original post was that you can't just blame racism for certain failures of society (and yes, these are failures of the whole society), these are problems that stem from a whole spectrum of reasons, and to conclude that a system or institution is racist is a joke... blame the system for favouring the rich.. (which again, is what happens with almost any system)... but don't blame white people... because again, these things are divisive and they ostracise communities... and is kind of how the holocaust started... blaming a race of people for problems that are much more complex.

But yeah, the post was in response to Larry who seems to think Floyd doesn't get his due because of racism and not all the reasons there are to not like Floyd.

The simple response would be... okay well if people don't think Floyd is the best, who do they think is the best? A white man? Last I checked, most people's ATG lists are full of black people... in fact, you can only name 1 or 2 white guys that are considered top 10 ATG fighters, the rest are black and hispanic. So again, his whole premise is just ridiculous and borderline ******ed.
I agree with you. Don't get me wrong. I was indeed saying that the main cause, even for some of your counter-arguments, is poverty...not racism.

But I was also pointing out that some, not all, of the reasons that poverty exists is because of racism. There is a clear link between racism and poverty. Here's a quote from a good article that discusses the matter:

"Racial or ethnic minorities are disproportionately affected by poverty; and the lack of education, adequate housing and health care transmits poverty from generation to generation, a United Nations rights expert has said."
      http://www.socialwatch.org/node/16324

And I wouldn't blame White people for these issues. I would more so blame...I don't know...America, I guess is the best way to put it.

And 100% agree. Obama is half white, half black. In America, there is the one drop rule...which means he is considered Black for some strange reason. You have to admit, America is one strange, messed up place.

I'm not going to say people's feelings about Mayweather have nothing to do with racism. Just as if you go on the message boards at ESPN and see the things they say about Serena Williams...you wonder where that is coming from. Many Americans side with European Whites against her. I can't explain that away without believing it's about racism.

But at the same time, I do agree with most of what you're saying, and I think there are tons of reasons to dislike Mayweather. Some do hate him because of prejudice, though.

Oh, and I'm not sure who said Ali was loved....but Ali in his day was probably hated even more than Mayweather. lol.

Again, I think we are mostly on the same page.

It's just ignorant.

There's no balance in peoples thoughts, no rational thinking. Everybody is super sensitive these days too, or have a lot of faux-outrage at least and want to brand people something for having an opinion.

That's a reason why it's hard to find people to have a good balanced intelligent conversation or even debate with.
Unfortunately our society has created a group of people with a victim mentality quickly blaming others for their short-comings. It's embarrasing being a part of a generation where having a different opinion is labeled as hate speech.

You call other fighters great who have not even done more then ****ing Berto, yet slam Floyd for fighting Berto for his retirement fight. We all knew this day was coming eventually.

What about all the Mexican fight fans that hated Floyd? That's a huge number of fans.

Guess what those same Mexicans all voted for Obama?

            They racist though.

Yeah, again, racism exists and some people are racist and those people need to be shamed if they act upon their ignorant beliefs.
I mean personally, I don't really like Serena because she wins all the time and it gets boring, the same reason I don't like Djokovic! But yeah, I am sure there are people that don't like certain people because they are racist... but I am also sure that is a very very small minority of people and nowhere near the level of institutionalised racism.
And yeah, Ali WAS hated... and America did USED to be an openly racist country... and in fact during WW2, Americans would be appalled at us Brits when they were stationed in the UK, for letting black men drink in the pubs with us, and because we didn't treat them as second class citizens. But this isn't the case anymore and people love Ali and people love Robinson etc etc... My point was, if people don't rate Floyd because he is black, then why do we rate so many other African Americans over White Americans? And the answer is, because there is no racist agenda in the boxing communities to suppress the greatness of a fighter due to the amount of pigment he has in his skin...
Anyway, yeah, I think we agree about most things here and that ultimately Larry is wrong.

Although the original post is somewhat convoluted it is not entirely wrong. We have seen an uptick in overt racism since Obama's election and even moreso after his reelection. It's as if many Americans lost their minds at the site of a black President.

Floyd Mayweather's success is further proof of the race problem in America. Floyd was able to make millions off of people who bought his fights in hopes to see him lose. I understand that half of the people who watch Floyd paid to see him lose but to make the absurd amount of money he you would need A LOT of hate. And we would be fools to think Floyd is not hated in part because of race.

Black people are racist too. There is racism in all colors but you're the type that only sees racism on one side(the white side).

Obama is a very smart man but he chose race over logic with some of the idiots getting shot.
