Consensus p4p (based on TBRB, Ring & ESPN)

WHy don't you have this site but have ESPN?

They haven't updated yet and it's the pound for pound list of one writer vs. ESPN being updated and the list of 10 people hence a bigger consensus.

If we use Cliff's list too then the consensus between all four becomes : -

Ok, that is completely fair and understandable. I just don't like using ESPN. Any rankings that have Deontay Wilder in them are suspect. I am also suspect of the Ring because of the ownership and the inherent conflict of interest that comes with a promoter owned publication doing rankings.

Ring have been very fair with their current ranking of Spence (#5) and their ranking of Garcia (who was always too high IMO), there isn't a Top Rank guy I feel they unfairly rank nor a PBC guy that they don't rank that deserves to be except maybe LSC over Nietes which the consensus confirms. They have a Canelo bias IMO.

If we get rid of ESPN and go TBRB, Ring, Cliff we get : -

3. Alvarez (by 1 place because of Ring's lofty placing)
4. Usyk (would be #3 but for Ring's higher view of #3)

Probably helps that he's beaten 4? former world champions/and is a world champion in 3 different weight classes already? I would say #7 or so is a fair rating.

Transnational Boxing Rankings Board, The Ring and ESPN have all updated their lists so here's now the consensus rankings based on the combined lists between all three. (Individual rankings in brackets)

Every outlet has the same top two in that order. Assuming Inoue beats Donaire it's conceivable the next time we do these rankings Top Rank will have the top 3 spots.

So all three panels do their p4p and it's based upon the lists of multiple experts. Going by the three lists being combined on average here is their combined consensus top 10 p4p which is likely to be most accurate as individually each may have a bias or political reason (i.e Ring having Canelo still ranked)

Nice work, man. TBRB, Ring, BWAA and ESPN are the ones I tend to use (even though I ain't a believer in P4P as a concept it makes sense to keep an eye on these things)... for ease of reference Wikipedia keeps a list of all 4 anyway but it's an excellent idea to compile a combined list.

Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to run a biannual (or whatever) thread on here to canvass poster opinion and come up with a consensus list also... despite the extremes of opinion - and to be blunt, the straight up nutcases - you find on here I suspect they balance each other out fairly well and you'd end up with something that looked pretty similar to those already mentioned.
