  • AJ Klitschko did amazing numbers worldwide. Why is Wilder not a star?

Germany loves soccer, its by far the #1 sport of the germans. Boxing is not at all popular in germany, there are barely any relevant german fighters left.

Last saturday though the AJ vs Klitschko fight drew 10 million viewers on cable TV in Germany, with a population of only 80 million.

AJ Klitschko also broke the PPV record in the UK, sold 90k tickets in a record time and the fight was broadcast in over 140 countries. I yet have to see any of Wilders or PBC fights in general broadcasted in Europe (other than the UK) or Asia.

When boxing is on free cable TV in the USA it never does huge numbers. Wilder draws about 1.5 - 2.5 million viewers on free cable TV which is pretty insignificant.

Why does Wilder, who is a big, tall heavyweight world champion and an olympian like Joshua, who knocks everybody out, has so few fans and only draws 1-2 million viewers?

Does Al Haymon do a terrible job promoting his fighters?

    Is it Wilders own fault?

Do the US Americans not care about boxing anymore?

Did Floyd vs Pacman ruin the sport for good?

Would like to hear your opinion on why boxing in the US is becoming more and more irrelevant.

    Americans watch MMA, not boxing.

It's like asking Americans why football is more popular than soccer in America. Man, who knows? Probably because Americans find it more entertaining.

Most Americans DGAF about boxing. I have 1 friend who watches a bit of boxing and that's mostly just really big fights. He probably couldn't name 10 boxers right now. Sucks not having anybody to talk boxing with, but that's how it is here these days

People can see Wilder is a phony who fights the weakest possible opposition, and in the past he's made excuses to avoid fighting top 10 HWs like Klitschko, Povetkin, Fury, Takam, Ortiz and Joshua.

Once Wilder has a career defining fight (and wins) you'll see his stock skyrocket.

          He's fought no one legit.

I remember Cotto fan boys said that he's a bigger draw than Wlad. Been saying it, Wlad is a bigger draw worldwide easy.

A lot of truth in that post.

@ Wilder ducked Povetkin. Get real.

No one has ever expected a fighter to continue with the fight after the other guy tests positive. Wilder is a sudden exception to that rule.

Wilder does need to fight someone soon doe
