At a certain point in his career Floyd should have been chasing legacy, i would say that was probably after his fight with Oscar. Past greats, for the most part, once they secured themselves financially they chased the great challenges, the scariest challenges, and strived to do the impossible, or things that people said they can't do. I would say every fighter in the top 10 of all time followed this pattern, and in some cases these guys did even before they were secured financially.

Floyd still measured risk vs reward right up until his retirement. He was smart, and made business decisions over sporting decisions. That doesn't mean he didn't take risks or take on some of the best fighters of his era, but he could have done more, and didn't always fight guys at their best. That was good for his pocket and the Pac fight as an example, because they waited they absolutely maximised the financial potential of the fight.

But you can't have it both ways, and when people criticise his legacy against the very best, unlike a lot of his fights, he has to take that straight on the chin I'm afraid.

Lastly the Joshua comparison is stupid and I think you know that. He fought Klitschko in his 19th fight, after a relatively short amateur career. The comparison has no merit, what Joshua did from a sporting point of view is more impressive.
Way too much sense in this post. People use Wlad to claim Joshua is the best in the division, Whereas people use those Floyd fights as proof he's the best ever.

Wlad was considered the best in the division, out of his prime still dangerous. Joshua had has 18 fights, was green and this was a huge step up. Joshua took the fight straight away. And knocked Wlad out is style

Mosley was well past his best, been out of the game for a year and a half and was fighting to pay off bills after his ex wife took him to the cleaners. Floyd was in his prime, experienced and heavy favorite going into the fight. Floyd avoided the fight a year earlier. Floyd got a boring pts decision

Oscar was well past his best, doing drug and dressing up in women's underwear. He had one fight in the 3 previous years, and came back for a money fight. Floyd was p4p number 1 and won a majority decision in a boring fight.

Manny was well past his best, was on the decline since 2011 after the Margarito fight and got knocked out by Marquez. Floyd took 6 years to take the fight against the smaller Pacquiao. Pacquiao went into the fight with a shoulder injury. Floyd fought an extremely negative fight, just touching Pacquiao with light jab from distance and hugging him when he got close. Never landed anything of any significance in a boring fight and took a pts decision on the basis of taking Pacquiao out of his game rather than putting the hurt on Pacquiao.

If you think these wins are elite/great then you are not a boxing.

Joshua got people of their feet, excited in a great heavyweight fight, when he went out of his comfort zone and and came away with a victory.

Floyd just brought shame to boxing.

floyd is a great fighter that picked great fighters at ends of there careers(not shot fighters but not at there agbsoulute est). it should be taken into consideration but not too much. maybe if he looked beatable or if he lost once it would mean more but he dominated every single one of those fights.
imagine if floyd was white. he would be heralded as the greatest of all time and would probably have a holiday in america after him. such a shame that such a great american talent didnt get the recognition he deserved

floyd has the record for beating the most champions.

literally beating the most champions cherry picked or not they are one of the best at the class.

im saying it doesnt matter much because floyds skills + fights against champions speak for itslef

and to add to that he had the most difficult style to master shoulder roll/ philly shell.

to pull htat off against top comp speaks for itself

I agree 100% with you. There is a double standard when it comes to African American elite fighters. The bias is sickening!
