If anything, the detectives and/or the district attorney's office, should be investigated for failing to perform their due diligence by not corroborating the CI information.

That's why the chief put the responsibility on the police to verify the information before obtaining a search warrant. The word of a CI should never be taken as gospel because they're doing for gain.
