Mayweather will forever be remembered as the guy who ducked Pacquiao of course, waiting him to get passed his prime before 'fighting' him. And despite Pacquiao getting knocked out, Pacquiao will be remembered more for conquering eight divisions, fought the best in his prime era, and his fights of Marquez and fighting bigger men, and especially, coming back from the knock out.

It isn't even close. One guy fought the best of the best the other who waited the best form their best time to fight at the right time at the best reward.

I think fans will remember them both just fine.
No one who witnessed Mayweather dominating how he did and looking untouchable, or witnessed Pacquiao rising through the divisions and beating the odds against all those bigger guys, is going to dismiss that in a hurry.

They were both special fighters and will be remembered as greats. Boxing fans may have their preference and dog on the other one given the chance..but part of them can respect each guys accomplishments (IMO).

If you're into boxing and witnessed them both fight, you're gonna remember both those guys in 10, 20, 30 years. It was a pretty special time to have them both plying their trade at the same time.

And any new fans to boxing, growing up in 20 or 30 years time are going to be able to go to the well, and study both guys.

If you hear about these 2 fighters Pacquiao and Mayweather who fought before you were watching the sport and how great they were, then you're gonna revisit both their fights..on youtube ect. Just like this generation will have done with old Hagler and Leonard fights, or the guys before that did with Ali fights.
And those fans are gonna' have some fun doing so..as they probably won't limit themselves to enjoying just one of those fighters, like most of today's boxing fans did.

Everybody has a right to decide for themselves who they think is a great fighter. Just because their choice isn't the same as your choice doesn't make it a wrong choice. Not every boxing fan in the world agrees that Mayweather is TBE. He declared himself TBE. It's really not up to him to dictate who is TBE. That is up to boxing fans and not the boxers. There are dozens of other retired champions who also boast that they are TBE. Saying you are TBE doesn't make it true. Mayweather is certainly great but I think he falls short of being TBE. There are a couple of lightweights I think would beat him when he fought as a lightweight and a few welterweights who I think would beat the welterweight Mayweather.

Twenty years from now no one will be watching Mayweather highlight videos, unless you count the cheap shot he dropped Ortiz with or his hard fought victory over a slightly better than average Corrales. Insomniacs who don't respond to high doses of Ambien will likely be prescribed Floyd Mayweather's Greatest Fights in an effort to get them the sleep the so desperately need.

As far as the topic is concerned. I think Pac will be the more remembered one for sure.

Mayflower is the better technical boxer for sure. But going on who will be remembered 20 years or more later, Pac has Mayflower beat easily.

Mayflower has no real signature fights that will stand the test of time and make you want to rewatch them.

Look at all past greats and every one has multiple signature fights that make you remember him and makes you want to watch their fights.

With Mayflower he doesnt have those kind of fights unlike Pacquiao who does and for that Pac will be the far more remembered fighter.

who is going to forget manny plankman? floyd has never had a memorable fight or moment like that. he will be forgotten. his resume has big names but all well past their best. hes going to look worse and worse over time as the fanboyism fades and people can objectively look at his resume. meh is the word that comes to mind. no notable fights and a meh resume? just doesnt have anything worth remembering.
