When Roach returned to LA he spent the vast majority of his time training Pacquiao during the last few intensive weeks of the Bradley camp. Khan was having to train around Pacquiao's timetable and Roach wasn't supervising the training correcting his mistakes.
But to add to the problem even further, it wasn't only Pacquiao that Roach was training but also Chavez Jr at the time too since he fought Andy Lee one week after Pacquiao fought Bradley.
Khan had no choice but to leave Roach as a result of severely neglecting his duties as a trainer, meaning Khan was forced to train between 65% to 80% solo.

The Peterson camp eventually transitioned into the Garcia camp after Peterson got busted. Khan kept training the whole time. For some of that time Roach was away in Phillipines training Pacquiao while Khan was in LA training himself. For the rest of the camp Roach obviously came back to LA with Pacquiao prior to the Bradley fight but he spent a lot of that time training Pacquiao and Chavez Jr.
Khan trained himself solo for the vast majority of that period overall, approximately 65% to 80% of the complete 16-week camp he spent training solo.

Pacquiao vs Bradley June 2012
Khan vs Garcia July 2012
Roach flew to the Phillipines to train Pacquiao for the Bradley fight so Khan had no choice but to train himself at Wildcard for a huge part of the Danny Garcia fight camp since the fights were only one month apart. Approximately 65% of the camp was spent self-training. Roach only settled back with Khan at the Wildcard for the last quarter of the 16-week camp. While Roach was AWOL, they communicated by phone and over the internet but obviously that's nothing compared to the real thing.
That jab-uppercut combination Khan kept throwing from round one was something he trained himself to do in sparring and one session was recorded on video. He's throwing the same jab-uppercut combo again and again, getting caught the same way Garcia caught him. Roach isn't even in the same country at the time to spot and correct the mistake. Khan fell in love with that combo in sparring and became extremely predictable from round 1, only to have Garcia eventually time it and catch him with a huge close-line style hook.
Even a seasoned veteran like B-Hop would always need a trainer for the entire duration of a fight camp, it's something any boxer requires in order to correct the mistakes they'll inevitably make, keep them focused, execute the game plan correctly etc... Any high level fighter who is forced to train themselves would just not be the same fighter come fight time, they'll inevitably make mistakes.
So that's the real reason Khan lost the Garcia fight and fired Roach.
In my opinion, many high level fighters would have beaten Khan that night due to his predictability which resulted from an absent trainer and him being forced to train himself for a large part of the fight camp. Many great fighters would get beat if they were placed in a similar situation, having no choice but to train themselves.
So there we have it. Now we know the truth.
