Because as Holyfield said after the fight, "You only get dropped by the ones you don't see." Obviously an exaggeration, but it adds to the difficultly of getting him out of there.

he looked more vulnerable than ever last night lol, i genuinely must have watched a different fight cause he lost almost every round, almost get stopped against a guy considerably past his best and who was a considerable betting unerdog. pretty much only won cause the other guy gassed. i was expecting wilders stock to have gone down, not have risen lol, bizarre reaction to it on this forum. the 'casual' fans who watched the fight here said he looked like ****, and they are right.

Yeah, when you juxtapose this with that fact that we're measuring him against an opponent in AJ, who's susceptible to getting caught with a straight right hand, this might be the key to the fight.

AJ is more sound, but if he gets to Wilder but doesn't put him away, that could be the end of him b/c he's not getting up from one of those rights hands (followed by the flurry of course lol)

It's an intriguing skill, but at HW that's a big deal.

Definitely, but so was AJ against Klitchscko. That drama is why we love watching lol

I’ve seen several people say this. But folks seem to forget that Ortiz wa pretty f.ucked up himself in the fifth, and was saved by the bell. Another thirty seconds, and we never make it to the seventh.

How could his stock go down after KOing the guy nobody wanted to fight? Just let it go lol

Yeah he's pretty much right.

Wilder has unbelievable heart and drive. In order to beat him opponents must have incredible focus and stick to a game plan of moving right (Deontay's Left). Wilder is linear in that only his right hand can hurt people, but he sets traps and is crafty in the way he gets opponents to stopping moving right.

Go back and watch the Molina fight. It was a left hook that turned that fight, hurt Eric, and dropped him.

It was a great performance from wilder. Ortiz had him rocked but that happens in heavyweight boxing. The important thing was he recovered enough and managed to stop him.

Ortiz gave a pretty good account of himself too hopefully he’s not too long in the tooth to come back again someday.

Did you you catch the left hook to the body last night to bring those hands down just a bit? He's learning more than people want to acknowledge. For example, he hurt ortiz with a counter right hand in the 10th (when he threw him off). The straight right came immediately after the ref cleared them to fight on, but Ortiz was already hurt.

Exactly. People forget that. The count for Ortiz ended with the clock and did not allow Wilder an opportunity to follow up. Wilder is the best finisher in the game.
