Does anyone know what Curry's beef with Leonard was about

They were at a barbeque and he put to much curry on the beef which caused an insult and thought he spiced things up intentionally.

Donald Curry was a talent many people have theories on why he was not even more successful as a pro his wins over many talents such as Marlon Starling and Milton McCory at welter plus a few Jr middleweight contenders show his ability. Joke as you may on this thread he had the talent to do very well and his loss to honeygan may have been one fight two many at welterweight

Curry was on his way to a megafight with Hagler down the line, but Leonard, looking out for himself, told Curry when Curry went to him for advice, to stay at 147, which in essence ruined his career. As good as Curry was, was probably fortunate he fought Milton when he did, if it had come off in early '83 as planned, he might have lost.
