To answer your question TS, everyone at the top is skilled. Some may not be silky smooth like Money Maiii but they're definitely skilled.

thats one way of looking at it...another is if he had a D would he have lost to pac/may? wouldnt he have been fighting at the highest level for longer than he did? wouldnt he have accomplished more?
Come on Panda, I even separated my first sentence from the rest and put a smiley there to show I was joking.

Hatton is an interesting case because of his exploits outside of the ring and the constant blowing-up between fights and bad drug/drink habits. Even with a D, his life outside of the ring was definitely detrimental to his life inside of it.

Well they're all skilled, Rios, Maidana, Margarito, Hatton and anyone else you guys have named are skilled. They know the fundamentals, some just prefer to ignore them and like fighting. Like Rios. They wouldn't be where they are without skills. Now granted they may not be as skilled as Mayweather, Marquez, or Martinez but they're still skilled in their own right.

            Jean Pascal

Held a title and has no skills at all, no jab, just throws wild flurries.

            Ricardo Mayorga is another one.

Good, good call on Pascal. That guy has no real fundamentals. He's just very very fast and explosive to me. Andre Berto too tho he's a little better than Pascal.

              Also, Seth Mitchell sucks IMO.

Dennis Andries is a prime example of a man who used his sheer strength, heart, fitness and mental toughness to get the very top.......

He was an ugly, incredibly basic, mauling fighter who was effectively sent back to school to learn how to box properly having been hammered by Thomas Hearns in a WBC light heavyweight title fight.

Andries, somewhat amazingly was actually the defending WBC champ in that fight against Hearns.

Virtually every shot Hearns threw caught Andries flush on the chin but still Andries got up and came surging back and the fight is a classic, real-life example of the Rocky Slugger trying to upset the odds against an utterly more skilled and superior opponent.

Andries impressed everyone with his bravery and heart and ended-up going to the Kronk gym after that Hearns defeat to learn how to slip a punch and use his power to throw a decent power shot.

Andries would then go on to have three classic wars with Jeff Harding for the same WBC belt - losing the decider - when the equally rock-hard Harding opted to box his way to the title.
