Default Who is the next Manny Pac/Mayweather? Will boxing lose some edge against MMA/UFC?

I know boxing will NEVER DIE... HOWEVER, I do think that it might suffer a little in attracting as many new fans here in the next 5 years... Especially if this trend keeps up where promotors don't make the best, most competitive, fan-desired fights... If there happens to be a decently appealing opponent, that has already been built up, and maximized profits, AND he's not too risky - then fans are lucky enough to get a desirable fight... In today, it is rare when you don't have a clear "A-Side" fighter, not necessarily in terms of popularity, but rather, in regards to having the deck stacked to really favor the "pre-determined winner"... With this system, **** rarely gets shaken up, and in turn - no drama, thus inhibiting potentially superstar fighters by not appealing to new fans...

CANELO - YES, VERY TRUE MY MAN! They were going crazy for him against Baldomir on the Mosley-Mora card... He drew more applause than Mora or Mosley did... It's like majority of the people there were the most interested to see how Alvarez was coming along... Build him up in the heavily mexican populated LA area - he will be FILLING OUT STAPLES CENTER in a few years... It sucks cause we won't get to see him really tested till he is ready to be a PPV star, but he DEFINITELY has that crossover appeal to the casual fan - his style and demeanor... HAHA not the most popular amongst the ladies, like the traditional crossover boxing superstars have been, but he just has that down to earth, chill ass, every-man type attitude... HAHA he appeals to whitey too... Hahaha...

it's crazy that in MMA...most people can name 3 or more past champions and superstars.

Anderson Silva, Chuck Lidell, Tito Ortiz, Randy Couture, GSP, Royce Gracie, Ken Shamrock, Kimbo, Rampage, Shogun, Brock and Mirko. that's just off the top of my head without even a flinch...

in boxing...how many superstars have there been in the past 10 years?

Oscar, Floyd, Manny, Lennox? Even Erik, one of my top favorite fighters of all time (right under Arguello), goes unrecognized by most fans.

Yes boxing will lose some edge to UFC, especially now that UFC has expanded their weight divisions to include lower weights.
