Its definitely a problem with boxing...and has been one for a very long time.

Its easy to pick on Canelo today or Floyd when he was active, but this sh^t has been going on since back in the ole timey days & even before SRL who abused rules to his advantage to. This is the mom & pop outdated element of boxing that makes it a joke sport to a lot of people (along with other sh^t like multiple belts & sketchy judging too obviously).

Ideally boxing should have all these rules covered that are deemed fair across the board & updated as needed when issues come up. That said boxers shouldn't have any say who they fight just like you can't pick your opponents in most any other pro sport I'm aware of either. The cream should rise to the top ALWAYS. And there should ALWAYS be a desire to make quality control in matchups in various ways that it could be done in a individual sport like boxing (I'm pro a tier based model which is how sumo wrestlers in Japan move into more competitive contests) where guys do take physical damage & formats usually used in individual sports couldn't be replicated easily if at all.

The fact is that the contract stated that if he “weight in over 170lbs on the second weighing” he’d pay 250k for every pound. He came in overweight cuz he didn’t want to be drained and still lost even though he outweight Cinnamon by 16lbs on fight night. No excuses move on.

Had the fight been just for the IBF belt it would have been a stipulation he would have to abide by anyway, no excuses move on!

He did it to morales. 1mil per pound over the limit. But that was on the actual weigh in of the 2nd fight

Canelo is way bigger than Floyd the catch weight was needed. And as far as gloves Floyd had no intentions of changing maidana’s gloves until he felt them.

Delahoya on the other hand made Floyd move up to 154 for the 1st time and HAND PICKED mayweathers gloves Floyd didn’t get to choose. Go look at how big Floyd’s gloves was in that fight and tell me who got done worse Floyd or maidana lol.

Makes you wonder what they're on to lose soo much weight??? Saunders got caught and then immediately moved up. Jacobs is saying now he can't make 160 anymore. 2nd day weight Canelo was 1 lb over SMW. Jacobs was 1.4 lbs under LHW.

I also don't think it's fair because Canelo was watching what he was eating and such while Team Jacobs was laughing their ass off.

If they didn't agree to 170lbs then I'm ok with it. But they BOTH agreed in WRITING!!! That's some tricky sht.

When he could easily fight at light heavyweight but chooses to fight at middleweight cause he likes that big size advantage
Who are these people that called Canelo a weight bully when he was at Lightmiddleweight? Is it the people that did so when he created "Canelo weight" at 155 but refused to fight Middleweights? Yeah, he was a weight bully back then. Canelo is and was a fully fledged Middleweight.

Jacobs can make 160 so that's all that matters. But do you have the same opinion for Canelo who came in over 170 or there about?

Its a fair criticism.
If it had no impact, why did Canelo have it in the first place? Because he was bored or something? We both know he did to gain an advantage. It's a straight b1tch move.

Well there is definitely a science to losing weight. And there is a logic to being just under the limit on weigh in day to be able to max hydrate back up as high as possible by the time of the fight for a reason.

Well they agreed to it, but there was a price tag on it to. So all sides agreed if you come in over you gotta pay 250k per lb over.

Randomly was Canelo going to be penalized the same if he came in over? I haven't heard anything about that I only heard that they agreed upon 10lbs over & if Jacobs came in over he had to pay something & that got defined to 250k per lb later on.

This whole weight thing is definitely a whole problem in itself doe. I mean they are selling millions of dollars in seats months to days in advance of the weigh in. They are spending millions on preparations for the event. For advertising for the event. And there are other fighters preparing to fight & spending money. Its a hard call to just pull the event that people wanna see cuz some guy weighs a half of a lb over or w/e he's over within some reason. There's been too much money spent to just have a do over or cancel or to even bring in a late sub that isn't the fight people wanna see.

So its a tough thing with no real right answer with how things operate now.
