You know what's pretty crazy? Canelo is 3 years younger than Crawford or Lomachenko. Canelo has been fighting "name" fighters for the better part of a decade while we just heard of Crawford and Loma as pros in the last 5 years and they are both 3 years his senior.

Loma stayed amateur for far too long, but has been a force since going pro.

Crawford gets a free pass IMO, but his resume is similar to GGG's in that he fought bums for far too long.

At Canelo's current age, neither Crawford or Loma had fought anyone with a pulse while Canelo has maybe 8+ Hall of Fame fighters on his resume. Really can't compare them resume wise, so it has to be the eye test for Loma or Crawford to be ranked higher.

Resumes are great, and they are important, but they mean nothing without context. Once again, Canelo failed to dominate a high level opponent.

In the first 6 rounds, he looked spectacular. In the last 6 rounds he looked pedestrian. Danny Jacobs damn near almost swept the last 6 rounds of the fight and could've ended with a draw had Canelo not won the 11th round.

So again, Canelo fails to dominate a fight. He fails to fight consistently for all 12 rounds. Same thing happened against Golovkin as well. That doesn't happen to P4P no.1 fighters.

I agree that Canelo is top 5 P4P, I agree that he's the best MW, but there's a big difference between being no.1 and being top 5. He's not no.1.
You talk about context, but forget that Loma/Crawford are fighting average competition. Completely without context.

Think of how awesome Canelo would look if he constantly just fought Josesito Lopez, Rocky Fielding, etc. He would go undefeated destroying everyone.

That's what loma/Crawford are doing. They're the ones without context. Fighting one legged dudes, or washed up has beens. Canelo is stepping it up, that's why he looks less impressive. He's fighting GGG, Jacobs, Lara Cotto, Mayweather, etc.

Have crawford gain some weight and step in the ring with Jacobs, GGG. See how he damn near gets stopped.

Canelo turned pro at age 15 though. He had no amateur career whatsoever. Crawford was 21.

While you can say he has the best resume, it felt like there was something missing from Canelo last night. Idk if it was Jacobs or what but I'm not actually sure he's entering his prime. He's at an age where most guys are but for him being a pro so long, I wonder if turning pro early made his prime come a bit early too. I guess we'll see in his next fight where he is physically but there was something about his performance that got me questioning.

So what. He still started fighting borderline elite fighters while he was a teenager. He chose to challenge himself when he was barely old enough to vote. Crawford can't say that and Loma decided to be an amateur into his mid 20s.

Canelo could have 10 more years of being near the top. Loma and Crawford have to work to build their legacy right now or they'll risk missing their chance.

Crawford is a top, top talent. I was big on him after Prescott

He's 31. Still waiting for a signature win. What's his best win? Postol?

Poor resume for a p4p talent

Wrong. You pick the one that BEATS the best opponents and does so without asterisks.

Canelo has TWO asterisks: Lara and G1. Other than that he's beaten quality, named fighters in multiple weight classes and only ever lost to The Best to Ever do it.

Meanwhile, Nomaschenko lost to an Uber driver, never avenged it, then proceeded to get some wins - only two of which of any high quality.

Crawford has nothing but asterisks on his welterweight resume. Resorting to low blows when he can't knock out a "glass jaw", damn near going the distance with a one-legged fighter, using dubious hand injuries to delay fights and getting a ref assist to stop Horn on his feet with no damage, etc.

All people can keep saying is this mythical "eye test" - and ignore resumes completely. It's about what you've DONE, not what it looks like you could do. That's what got Dwight Qawi, Jermell Charlo and Jeff Lacy in trouble. Some of you need to STOP with all that crap.

And before people start, I have the same complaint about Spence. But see Spence has no asterisks on ANY of his wins (don't you DARE say Mikey. Mikey asked for the fight, Mikey made weight. It was on the level), and he has more named fighters on the hit list; thus I rate him higher than Crawford by a country mile.

Canelo is the clear number 1 and there shouldn’t be any debate but the noobs here just go off what the biased media tells them.

But no doubt about it canelo is p4p #1 and it’s not even close.
