  • Where've All The Lightweights Gone?

Anyone else depressed by this? There was ALWAYS. ALWAYS one ATG at lightweight.

    90s -Delahoya, Mosley
    80s- Whitaker, Ramirez
    70s - Duran, Buchanan

    You get the picture.

The last great lightweight was arguably Jose Luis Castillo. Now it's just a wasteland. Sad stuff.

Its just a slow period for the division,, It happens to all divisions..

168 was dormant for years till calzaghe and super 6 brought it back to life..
Heavy's were horrible after lewis retired but are now starting to heat up
160 was barren for awhile when hopkins was champ
    175 goes in spurts...

Just give it a year or so and it will regain some glory with guys like crawford

Crawford will probably jump to 140 soon he already has a good win there.

168 had Jones JR and Toney, 160 had Hopkins (for people paying attention)

        Crawford

        Vasquez

        Abril

        Burns

        DeMarco

        Bogere

        Gamboa

I like it like this,no stand out..You can mix and match these guy's,without feeling like there an edge to one specific guy..

Crawford/Burns or Crawford/Vasquez can get made too it's on the same network. that's a bit enlightening

Crawford is possibly a top fighter, Lomachenko may end up at LW?

Pacquiao and Marquez were great lightweights. They just didn't stay at that weight long. Every weight class has it's ups and downs. More good lightweights will show up and Broner was a good lightweight and he may return to that weight class to stay away from 140.
