  • The Last Great Era of Welterweights to Middleweights

The last generation of great/top level fighters at the weight classes of 147, 154 & 160 I would say through looking at their notable wins and losses are:

    Shane Mosley:

    beat Fernando Vargas twice
beat Oscar De La Hoya twice
    beat Antonio Margirito
    beat Ricardo Mayorga

    lost to Manny Pacquiao
    lost to Floyd Mayweather
    lost to Miguel Cotto
    lost to Winky Wright twice
    lost to Vernon Forrest twice

Champion at Lightweight, Welterweight & Light Middleweight

    Winky Wright:

    beat Shane Mosely twice
    beat Felix Trinidad
    beat Ike Quartey

    Draw with Jermain Taylor

    lost to Bernard Hopkins
    lost to Fernando Vargas

    Champion at Light Middleweight

    Ike Quartey:

    lost to Vernon Forrest
    lost to Winky Wright
lost to Oscar De La Hoya
    lost to Fernando Vargas

    Champion at Welterweight

    Oscar De La Hoya:

    beat Chaves Senior twice
    beat Pernell Whitaker
    beat Fernando Vargas
    beat Hector Chamacho
    beat Felix Strum
    beat Ricardo Mayorga

    lost to Floyd Mayweather
    lost to Manny Pacquiao
    lost to Felix Trinadad
    lost to Bernard Hopkins
    lost to Shane Mosley twice

Champion at Super featherweight, Lightweight, Super Lightweight, Welterweight, Light Middleweight & Middleweight

    Felix Trinidad:

    beat Oscar De La Hoya
    beat Hector Chamacho
    beat Pernall Whitaker
    beat Fernando Vargas
    beat Ricardo Mayorga

    lost to Bernard Hopkins
    lost to Roy Jones Jr
    lost to Winky Wright

Champion at Welterwight, Light Middleweight & Middleweight

    Fernando Vargas:

    beat Winky Wright

    lost to Felix Trinidad
lost to Oscar De La Hoya
    lost to Shane Mosley twice
    lost to Ricardo Mayorga

    Champion at Light Middleweight

    Pernall Whitaker:

    beat Wilfredo Riveria twice

    lost to Felix Trinadad
lost to Oscar De La Hoya

Champion at Lightweight, Super Lightweight, Welterweight & Light Middleweight

    Ricardo Mayorga:

    beat Vernon Forrest twice
    beat Fernando Vargas

lost to Oscar De La Hoya
    lost to Felix Trinidad
    lost to Shane Mosley
    lost to Miguel Cotto

Champion at Welterweight & Light Middleweight

    So the list includes:

    Oscar De La Hoya
    Pernal Whitaker
    Shane Mosley
    Ricardo Mayorga
    Fernando Vargas
    Ike Quartey
    Winky Wright

How would you rank these fighters from the most accomplished to the least? I know that some of these fights were controversial as well eg Ocasr/Trinidad & Forrest/Quartey. Also, which of the fights between these guys were most entertaining? And is there anyone else you would add to this list?

I've seen quite a few of the fights on the list but not all and obviously did not grow up watching these great fighters so was wondering for those who did how they would rank these fighters against one another on All Time Lists ect.
