    These things just get worse

Also, hell yes to the ankylosauras:

Do you know we are closer in time to t-rex then t-rex is too ankylosauras

I'd out Sarcosuchus imperator up for a vote as far as land based creatures. A 40 foot long, 8 ton croc would be pretty gawdamn lethal.

Did you know that we are closer in time to Lucas Matthysse than either t-rex or ankylosauras?

        Scary thought, huh?

Do you know that I'm just as close to Lucas Matthysse father, Roberto Duran?

My favorite growing up was Triceratops.

Always thought of it as a gentle giant, until you pissed it off.

Remember reading books as a kid with big old illustrations of it and a T-Rex battling it out, with giant volcanic explosions in the background.

              Memories....

                How about a Haast's Eagle?

or maybe a Smilodon (Sabertooth Tiger)

or Gigantopithecus blackii, a 10 ft tall, 1200 pound ape

All of which coexisted with modern day humans.

As far as land based predator mammals, I think Ursus maritimus tyrannus might be the be all, end all.

I don't know if they have ever recovered a full skeleton yet, but what I have read, it was much larger then todays polar, and the extinct short-faced bears, by some margin.
