Thurman has done the most recently, so he's #1.

Rankings are all about what you've done recently and Pac hasn't really done sh1t for the last few years, can't rank him at the top because of what he did in the his prime. He could easily be #1, but he obviously doesn't care about that at this point in his career.

The winner of Spence and Brook will be #2 clearly.

Bradley is a wild card at the moment, which is a shame because I give him a good shot at beating anyone besides Manny.

Things are pretty open now. Thurman should really keep his eye on the winner of Brook vs. Spence since Pac is content fighting the Jeff Horns of the world.

You need to learn about the Lineal Championship and what it means to establish a new lineage when "the man" retires on top. Boxing hasn't had the same belt organizations as now nearly 100 years

. The top dog is "the man". #1 and #2 haven't fought to establish a new top dog. These welterweight fighters need to all fight eachother to establish a new lineage, resume, and legacy at the 147lb. limit.

Your logic is why fans of boxing are so fickle. The winner of Brook/Spence for me would be number 1 at WW. The winner should then fight Thurman to be the clear man of the division.
I agree with this and I made this same argument with fans saying Canelo is a bad fighter. Then what about if GGG beats him, then you'll be naming Canelo at the top of GGG's resume as the best win but here you are claiming Canelo isn't good. So which one is it.

They are fickle.

Floyd beat a never-was Ortiz with a cheap shot, a never-was Guerrero went the distance, an over-hyped Maidana got his shot at Floyd and was robbed in their first match, a shot overrated Berto went the distance in a boring ass fight, a one-armed Pacquiao went the distance against Floyd who needed an illegal IV the day before the fight, a shot overrated Judah coming off a loss against Baldomir went the distance, Baldomir with his 9 losses went the distance, an old Mosley who Floyd ducked at lightweight went the distance, a battle-worn Cotto softened up by Pac went the distance, a much smaller Marquez who Floyd didn't make weight for went the distance, and a smaller Hatton with the help of Joe Cortez.

Hmmm, suddenly the Mayweather myth isn't so mythical.

I would rather have it this way. No one clearly takes the number one spot. That means the division is hotly contested. Lots of competition. Makes for more excitement and good match ups.

I think Thurman surely is top?, if we give brook the spot for beating porter, well thurman has done that too, PLUS beat Garcia.. the undefeated guy who KO'd Khan (who seems to like to think of himself as top WW for beating alexander? who porter beat) it starts to get confusing and triangle theory'ish, so simply, Thurman has done the most, recently, no doubt. Him fighting Pac would be his biggest 'legacy' boost, but Brook-Spence winner or tim bradley wins would also do him good.

Perhaps the very best win any top WW could get at this point, would be beating crawford.
