Being in the world of finance, you learn a lot about whistle-blowers in school and as you're coming up. And the thing that stands out the most is the fact that it always turns out bad for them.
Unless you're the kind of whistle-blower thats exposing your employer for defrauding the government (in which case you receive a percentage and in most cases become very rich), the lives of high profile whistles blowers that are not already very wealthy are usually destroyed; their finances are ruined, their careers are over, and their marriages almost always end, etc.
This dude that worked for the NSA was set. Making good money in a cushy job living in Hawaii. He ruined his own life because he felt exposing this stuff was simply the right thing to do. **** the haters, this guy is a hero.
