He had excellent footwork, far from unskilled.
And I guess people don't count body punching as a skill.

Funny how a lot of fighters often listed as "unskilled" are usually killer body punchers.

Rios. Uses his face for defense - no skill
Throws hay makers relying on power
      He has very little skill
He wins on heart and determination

I think a lot of the so called non skilled fighter that have done well do have the skills but get in the habit of not using them as they get away with it cause of there strength . Like maidana he was a decent am and I watch sometimes and think how bad he looks but then against karass he was backed on the roped and his movement was good and it made me think the skill is there . Same with Hatton he stopped moving his head as much cause he just wanted to land the bodey shots that he'd got used to having success with. Anglo is another one he looked like crap in his last fight but he must have the skill as he beat Bradley in the amatures and he boxed in the Olympics you don't do that boxing how he does now

Rocky Marciano admitted himself that he wasn't skilled, he just worked really hard and was incredibly tough (no disrespect here at all).

Carlos Maussa was a light-welterweight champ but was comical in style, and that's generous.

rios may not be defensively skilled but he's got good balance and he's a very accurate puncher....especially on the inside...if anything i'd call him a margarito type fighter "with skill"

he also had excellent head movement but then again...

he also never had a gameplan, except for when he was with floyd sr in which he executed that gameplan just once against malignaggi

he had no defense...he smothered his opponents on the inside which enabled him to win

                    skilled or unskilled?

Didn't realise skill had anything to do with game plans. Yes, he lacked a defence but he used his footwork a lot of the time as a defensive tool. I didn't realise your entire game had to be good for you to be skilled either.
